5. I like Francona overall, but...
..he drives me nuts with his resting players (and never bunting with a man on 2nd and no outs). Backing into the playoffs is rarely a helpful thing. I don't care how much talent you have, it's really hard to just flip a switch and have that intensity again. By the time they get it they might be down 2 games to none.

10. Yeah, they just seem to think they play their game and that's that...
...they need to be able to raise the game and really focus, and he doesn't seem to have that in him. Well, he's got two WS titles to my none!

18. Harsh.
I think that you may have been talking to my cousin. He called me yesterday, and we were discussing sports. Mainly boxing, of course. I told him that we were happy that the Yankees are going to win the World Series this year. He said harsh things, too. I explained to him that, deep down, he is a Yankees' fan. He said mean things. I suggested that he seek professional help with the deep, psychological issues that are ruining his life as a Yankees fan. He hung up on me. I patiently await his calling back, to express his sorrow.

I bought it in Boston, from a one-legged man who wore two shoes. Even he admitted that, deep down, he is a Yankee fan. Everyone is, really. Did I mention that?

27. Joeybee 12 is one of
the few people who responds to my nonsense on the sports forum (anything but boxing!) in good humor. My normal brother often reminds me: "You know how much you like Ali? Well, there are a lot of serious sports fans who hate the Yankees just that much." My cousin is one of them. He was actually yelling at me yesterday, "Don't you get it? I LOVE when the Yankees lose!" But I have the sometimes lonely duty of a Second Base Adventist, serving as a Voice in the Outfield, teaching the one true baseball faith. And I'm convinced that Joeybee 12 really does have a Mickey Rivers T-Shirt.

that you hear when you are alone in a field late at night, watching ESPN play in the heavens, and the warm feeling you get when you recognize that the Yankees winning brings a happiness that money cannot buy.
