Am I the only one watching the UFL on versus? |
|
The California Redwoods vs The Las Vegas Locomotives. The Packers vs Vikings was the highest rated game on cable in history. Somehow, I don't think going up against the NFL is a good business model.
It's like going up against GM for christ sakes. Oh, wait a second.
Nah, the hell with it. The UFL?
30-17 Locomotives.

1. If I had Versus I'd watch it |
|
It's just a start up year where they evaluate and go from here. The Redwoods are a Dennis Green coached team with Marcus Fitzgerald as one of there wide receivers. I love football and I wish I could watch CFL games as well.

2. I think ESPN used to show some CFL games |
|
Seems like Birmingham, inexplicably, had a CFL franchise in the CFL for a single season in the mid-'90's. I would've watched their games, if I could've ever found them on the tube.
And DirecTV has dropped Versus now, so no CFL for me.

3. I caught just a bit before halftime. |

They better try to avoid camera shots that show the stands. That was a pretty sparse crowd, to put it kindly. :)
I dunno, I'm all for more football, but as you say, going up against the NFL?

The season will be over before December and they intend to add extra franchises. They said they're not there to compete with the NFL but to "compliment" the NFL. But no one is expecting anything major at this point especially the UFL which is explains the soft launch. What is interesting is they're considering locations in Europe and Mexico City down the road and the player's union contract expires and if there is a strike I expect some of them to find some employment in the UFL but 2011 is a long way away from now.

6. Nah, they're doing it right. |
|
Play during football season, when interest in football is high. But don't play on the traditional days.
Thursday's cool. But they oughta stake out Tuesday and Wednesday, too.
Nobody watches football in the summer.

7. Wednesday. Thursday, and Friday evenings this year |
|
It's only a soft launch which means the season will be over Thanksgiving weekend so I wouldn't expect this season to be an exact indicator of what future seasons will be like.
