Pittsburgh @ Cleveland
Edited on Thu Dec-10-09 11:19 PM by JonLP24
I don't have NFL Network but followed online and for those who didn't see the game or followed online... Browns win 13-6.

Top performers

Pittsburgh
Santonio Holmes WR
6 Rec, 93 yds

Cleveland
Chris Jennings RB
20 Rush, 73 yds
1 TD

Steelers go to 6-7 for the season while the Browns become 2-11.

11. Good thing we didn't have a line for this game
I read (maybe different from what you use) that Pitt was favored by 7.5, low enough to tempt me into taking Pittsburgh.

14. The real question is...
Edited on Fri Dec-11-09 12:50 AM by madinmaryland
Are they chokers or losers??

I'll leave it to the squealer fans to decide.

:hide:

Of course all the Cowboy HATERS will probably chime in also.

21. I think chokers
They are going to finish the season with a 3,000 yard top 10 QB, two different 1,000 yard recievers, and a 1,000 yard rusher, and their defense is still top 5...

5 of their 7 losses though come after holding leads in the 4th quarter. 45% of the points scored against them happen in the 4th quarter or OT.

If their Defense simply stood up and shut other teams down in crunch time the Steelers would be 11-2 right now and people would be saying this was just a cold divisional fight, and nothing else. Or maybe the fire wouldn't have so obviously gone out on the team after losing 4 in a row and they'd actually be 11-1 right now.

That seems to be the biggest difference between being a 6-7 team and an 11-1 team. Not folding down the stretch, both in games in the 4th quarter, or in the season overall.

To me that says the defense is choking...and when they choke that bad your record goes to 6-7 and you're losers.

So both.

5. I didn't watch the game
but Cleveland ran the ball really well. Between Josh Cribbs and Chris Jennings it was 28 carries for 160 yards. While Ben was 56% for a low 6.3 YPPA he was sacked 8 times and believe there is enough 'heat' or blame to go around.

13. But that's his secret sauce
Toothlessburger gambles that he can stay on his feet long enough to make miracles happen. It didn't happen tonight when the Cleveland Dee - with FIVE starters out from injuries - covered his receivers like a glove. A temperature of 18 degree with sustained swirling winds of 25 mph + didn't help either.

Josh Cribbs was amazing tonight, and the rookie Chris Jennings scored the Browns' first rushing TD in more than a year. The Browns offensive line seems finally to be gelling. The Steelers without Polamalu are just a middling defense.

A victory over the Squeelers is the only thing that makes a Browns losing season worthwhile. Bark hard!

17. I know that he holds on to the ball
and pump fake teams to death but that didn't look like the case tonight. On most of those sacks there was unblocked players and he didn't have time. Sure there was a few plays he held on to the ball just a little too long but it was bad protection by the line. Too many unblocked players with open lanes to the QB. Watch the highlights again and you'll see.

on half the sacks he held the ball way too long. Throw the ball away and don't lose the yards on the sacks.

22. Their O has been fine
The D has given up so many games, that I think the O finally has given up as well.

That seems to be the overall problem with the team. Giving up down the stretch, both in games, and in the season.

15. PAY THE MAN
Joshua Cribbs is the Browns only playmaker, the most versatile man in the NFL, a veritable superstar. He has three years left on a contract that pays him peanuts. It's time to give the man a raise!

Across the dressing room for Cribbs was Hall of Famer Jim Brown. He smiled, watching No. 16 be interviewed.

"He is a spiritual force," said Brown. "What he does is so pure, it's running the ball, then going down to make a tackle. It playing the game with the right attitude, giving himself all the way.

...

There was the 55-yard punt return, setting up a field goal. There was a 37-yard run out of the Wildcat formation. Another one for 18 yards. Yet another for 14 yards.

All on a frozen field against a defense ranked No. 1 against the run, a defense determined to stop Cribbs.

...

Keep in mind that Cribbs is not happy with his contract, that he wanted the Browns to rework his current deal. The team told him to wait until after the season. It would be easy for him to pout, but Cribbs not only plays hard, he has played when hurt, when the temptation would be to sit out practices or even games in this dreadful season.

But that's not how Cribbs thinks. It's what Brown meant when he said Cribbs is pure. It's why Brown added, "Other guys should watch him play and look in the mirror."

I recall an interview he did for CBS with the late Steve McNair. :( He asked, "Steve, tell me, Ebonically speaking,..."
