Finally!! Cerrato resigns; Redskins hire Allen
ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins overhauled their front office Thursday morning, hiring Bruce Allen as general manager after the resignation of Vinny Cerrato.

Allen becomes the first person hired by owner Dan Snyder to hold the title of general manager, a notable milestone after a decade of various front-office arrangements that usually centered on Snyder and his good friend Cerrato.

But changes were needed for a team that is 4-9 this season, and Cerrato has been widely criticized for his roster decisions since getting the title of executive vice president of football operations two years ago

I thought Snyder would never get rid of his boy Cerrato. A real GM!! And a good one. Now, once we get the coaching situation settled maybe this franchise can be respectible again (as long as Danny Boy keeps his fingers out of the pie)

:woohoo:

1. Hope he is better at football than his idiot brother is at politics.
At least one-half of the Danny & Vinny show is over.

3. He won a superbowl with Gruden in TB
And won GM of the year in 2002. I don't give a damn if his brother is an idiot. He's qualified for this job. George Allen's name is highly respected here.

8. gruden won a SB with a team assembled by Dungy and McKay
then proceeded to be mediocre for the next 6 years.

6. This Puts A Damper On Getting Shanahan As The Coach
How will this affect the coach search for next year?

9. Rumors in DC and Denver do have Shannahan coming here.
And considering what happened in Oakland after he left, I think its a pretty obvious that the Raiders became a SB contender because of HIM not Gruden whom I'm not overly impressed with.
This hire probably has more to do with the Allen name here than with Gruden, IMHO.

10. Look at Oakland after he left.
Vs. before he left. A very large talent drop off. He's MILES better than Cerrato

11. TZ, you and I would be better than Cerrato and we'd probably do it for half the money.
and I'm sure we'd be more fun at parties.
