Manning seems pretty pissed. If I were a big Colts fan, I'd be REALLY pissed.

1. it was a good run
all good things must end sooner or later. at least they didn't need a video camera to help them.

2. I think that hit on Manning scared them
We will see if it pays off in the playoffs. I have a feeling they will lose to the Pats in the playoffs though..

4. Watched most of the second half...that game left me with a bad taste in my mouth...
...as much as I despise payless and the dolts, I didn't want to see them lose that way...i understand not wanting to get anyone hurt, but I think they should have tried.

6. Same Thing I Said
I never want to hear any NFL official ever talking about the "integrity of the game", ever again!

The Jets may now make the playoffs because the Colts laid down.

I've never believed that teams can "turn it on" and "turn it off" whenever they want to.

In the NFL, coaches and players are paid to win and that is what they should try to do at all times.

I absolutely love the pain. Imagine all the desperate haters, less than 10 days ago, with not one but two teams to rely on. There were pathetic threads on message boards of all types, rooting for 18-0 teams to square off in Miami, supposedly to "shut up" the '72 Dolphins.

It's the most disingenuous argument of all time. Those Dolphins will naturally be shut up by mortality realities within a few decades. You think the haters will stop grasping for any team to go unbeaten at that point, even when there's no one left to shut up? It's never been anything but pure jealousy.

I had season tickets as a kid in '72. It's an annual joy. And it's much more satisfying when it reaches this point of the year. Like I posted two years ago, the season is essentially a 4 month advertisement for the 1972 Miami Dolphins. They are the true winners this year. Every Super Bowl champ will eventually wilt and fade in comparison. 18-1 means squat, easily replaced by the 20-1 Bengals of 2029, or whomever.

And it's no less satisfying because of the way it happened. After all, the haters are willing to accept any series of fluke events as long as it equates to unbeaten. Suisham missed a 23 yard FG a few weeks ago to beat the Saints. No one would have asterisked that win if New Orleans had managed 19-0.

I saw those Dolphins overcome every obstacle, including opening on the road at Kansas City in an instant rematch of the 1971 Christmas Day double overtime game. The Chiefs were favored and every analyst was picking them, most by big margin. A few weeks later Miami trailed late at Tarkenton and the Vikings before overcoming an 8 point deficit in the middle of the 4th quarter. Then Griese broke his leg and missed 3 months. Miami was forced to play the AFC Championship game on the road at Pittsburgh due to the inane rotational system they had at the time. If you want all time legend, you overcome every variable. The 1972 Miami Dolphins managed it, and they deserve to squawk and pop. It feels extra good tonight.

The haters are only 19 steps away.

Oh yeah, nice run by the Gators also.

8. The Minnesota game in Minnesota was a big one that season as well...
Jim Mad Dog Mandich caught the game winning TD in that one. The Pitt game was saved by Larry Seiple's fake punt.... So many great stories during that season...and I was at every home game, sitting in the MacArthur Dairy Huddle club end zone seats. Rick Weaver---White Handkerchiefs, Zonk...Merc...Kiick...Warfield---Nick---Jake---Little---Anderson---Foley (my Catechism teacher at the time)----and of course the mighty Shula.

Morans who diss that team are just that---douchebag Morans.

Oh---and fuck the Gators.

16. They were hoping that throwing in the towel here will help them win a SB.
I predict they get neither. The players will have 2 bye weeks to stew about management (ownership, not Caldwell) fucking them like this and come out flat in their first game. You think the Colts fans are pissed now, wait until the SB comes and they're not even in it.

18. As the Game Was Being Played
While the game was on I was thinking, if you pay guys millions of dollars to play a game then they should be on the field until the game is over unless the game is a blowout. Since the game was not a blowout I did not see any reason to take the starters out of the game. I know they had already made it to the playoffs, but the starters could have stayed in the game just long enough make so that the Jets could not win the game.
