Poll question: Which team will allow Bret Favor to ruin their playoff chances in 2010?
First the Jets, now Minnesota, I'm sure by 50 he can stink up the Decembers of about half the teams in the league.

1. I chose the Redskins because that would be so Dan Snyder, but I would prefer
it to be the 49er's just to see Upton defend that move!

of stink-ability!

4. I think you are missing the tune
Its a song I have heard 8 or so times. Favre blows late in the season. The Vikings wont make it to the SB, they cannot beat anyone in the NFC right now. BF will be the only Viking player, coach or fan who wont give a shit.

5. The loss last night was anyone but Favre's fault.
A missed extra point would have won the game in regulation. Two huge kickoff returns allowed easy touchdowns. D-line could not get pressure, secondary could not cover. Adrian Peterson, fighting for a meaningless yard when a turnover will KILL you, fumbled the dang ball. Last I checked, Favre has absolutely no ability to control any of that. He played extremely well in the 2nd half and was probably the one factor that gave the Vikings the chance to win.

Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 09:57 AM by fishnfla
they got beat by Jay Cutler.

Favre's qb rating in december has been in the tank until the second half last night, and went right back into it during overtime. He looked liked shit even in the game they won. He has a history of late season meltdowns, fact not opinion.

You are right, it is not Favre's fault: It is the fault of Brad Childress, he should let BF call the plays.

EDIT to add: their kicker is a former disgruntled packer to boot:tinfoilhat: :tinfoilhat:

I missed the second half but the loss rests on the Vikings D shoulders and the Offensive line who gave him *NO* protection in the first half.
Not Favre's fault

where everyone wakes up the following season to find the last one was just a dream.

Very few quarterbacks in the history of the fucking game have played in and won a Super Bowl ring. Brett Favre is one of them.

Did Favre "blow" late THAT season?

ETA: 2 touchdown passes of 81 and 54 yards, and a TD run of 2 yards. The guy really sucks, doesn't he?"]

What part of suck are you referring to?

He's also 3rd in the league in passing with a 104.3 QB rating.

Look--- I'm not a big Favre fan--- but damn--- It's idiotic to suggest he is hurting the Vikes.

10. you are making and missing the point at the same time
he always has great stats, but he can't finish the season. His performance during the playoffs hurt the packers for years, one of the reasons they got rid of him.

The other reason is what you are seeing with this whole fiasco/media storm between him and Childress. Favre is a diva and toxic to a team and its lockerroom. The better his stats get,the worse his ego/ personality gets.

Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson caught alot of flak for getting rid of Favre. They did the right thing, IMO

Played bad enough to put them in position to lose, which proves once again what I have said about Favre for 15 years:

He is such a good quarterback he keeps both teams in the game

EDIT to add: Favre's record when trailing by 14 or more points: 0-43

21. Uhhh
His line gave him ZERO protection. Kind of hard to complete a pass when you are constantly being blindsided.
Really, outside of his little squabble with Childress the problems in Minnesota lately have not really been his fault. How about the fact that Adrian Peterson had something like 35 yards last week and the week before.
Really the "Blame Brett for EVERYTHING" attitude is just stupid.

29. I really dislike the term "haters"...
but seriously, this is one place where it really fits. A whole bunch of people (a lot of them bitter old Packer fans that used to cheer for him with glee) really are Favre "haters" and they've decided the guy is no good, he's in it for himself, he sucks even when he throws for ~300 yds and 2 TDs with no picks and brought his team back from 16-goose egg to send it to overtime. Blah blah blah.

Hey, I used to hate the guy when he played for the piss & snot. And does he have a little bit of an attitude? Fuck yeah, and the guy has been in the league for 19 years and still wants to play. I think he's earned the right to get a few things his way.

Fuck him, fuck the Vikings, fuck the people who stick up for him, fuck the Vikings' fans who cheer for him now when they used hate his guts (the opposite of your position applies here)

You know what? I bet you Childress regrets his choice now. I bet you there is more to this behind-the-scenes than we know about. Gruden thinks so too. Even Peyton Manning took a shot at Favre in his postgame comments on Sunday.

He's a hunk of fuck. I hate hunks of fuck

36. Vikings were indeed NFL champions, in 1969.
The last year before the merger. Yes, they lost the AFL-NFL Super Bowl, but that championship is just as valid as any NFL championship before 1970. Certainly as valid as any of the Packer NFL championships in the early years when they simply crowned the team with the best record the champ.

And what's a "chocker"?

I love bitter Packer fans.

its an inside joke hard core packer web users know, some lions troll and his sockpuppets could never spell the word correctly. Kinda like 'morans' 'round here. Lol, force of habit.

I cant be bitter our QB just threw for 4,000 yds for the second year in a row, we have one of the youngest squads in the NFL.
Favre will crash and burn with the Vikes, their idot ( another inside term) coach just got an extension they will suck for awhile. Lovie Smith just may have saved his career with the bears last night,so they will suck, along with the lions.

I'm thinking HFA next season

They've lost 3 out of their last 4. Not exactly steamrollering their way into the playoffs. How much of that is due to Favre's quarterbacking, how much is due to Favre being the head coach, or how much is due to Favre being a locker room cancer, I don't know.

I was rooting for the Bears but Favre played very well. Including a 4th down game tying touchdown. First possession in overtime Favre was sacked twice, then second possession Adrian Peterson fumbled--there is talk he may have been facemasked but I got to look at it again. Defense gave up 36 or 37 points.

I need the Giants, Cardinals, and Cowboys to win this weekend.

Anyways when the playoffs start everyone is O-O, it doesn't matter how you start or how you finish it's a brand new season.

Point being Arizona started 7-3 last year, finished 2-5 and won the NFC. Hopefully they can do it again but it will be a tough road ahead of them. A first round bye would help. :bounce:

Favre's actually as good or better than he was at the beginning of this year. YOur dislike for the man is making you less than rational here.D-line and O-line have been horrible in MN. Peterson has not been running the ball. Peterson fumbles. Will you tell me how any of this is because "Favre can't last a season"?

24. Did you watch that game?
how 'bout the other playoff games, 2 others in Lambeau, he full-out blew chunks in? He sure finshed the season then and there on the spot. In one playoff game in ST Louis he threw 6 picks

In the NFC championship game he sucked, sucked, sucked in the second half and OT. There is a screen capture around somewhere I'll dig it up: his last throw as aPacker, in the NFC championship game, he has 2or3 recievers wide open for game breaking plays. He throws to a completely covered Driver for a pick.

I'll bet you 10 bucks he does it in the playoffs. He did it last night but the Bears dropped 2 EZ picks late in the game

...the ego of Mr. Favor knows no bounds, he basically had a very public power struggle, won because he calls the shots on offense, but guess what, you need a defense too, and since the team doesn't know who's in charge now, they don't listen to the coaches, they are in disarray...and why doesn't Peterson run the ball, because Breett wants to throw, he wants to win every game on his ego alone...he's a disgrace.

Edited on Tue Dec-29-09 05:44 PM by JonLP24
He is 3rd in the league in rushing yards. Peterson had 24 carries for 94 yards and 2 touchdowns last night as well as 3 receptions.

Before that was against a very good Panthers defense who held him to 2.9 YPC but he had 73 receiving yards. Against the Bengals he had 26 carries for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns. Arizona held him to 1.5 YPC so he didn't get many yards. I can go through the whole season but Peterson gets the ball plenty of times.

And six votes in a poll thats been running since Favre was at USM??

You do have a point. His team has a really bad 12-3 record. And no doubt he held a gun to the head of the owner of the Vikings to hire him. And he probably has a buddy in New England giving him tapes of the opponents defense, but can't we all just get along?

Good news for you, his nephew will be a freshman in college next year so you'll have another Favre to hate for 25 years.
