1. The national anthems were sung abominably, in keeping with the snowy theme. |
|
Go Bruins!
Guys like Clark ruined hockey as a spectator sport for a generation.

Couldn't they have gotten Neil Diamond to do it?

2. As Mark Recchi said to Chris Botta |
|
The next one HAS to be in New York. It must be the rivals (Islanders VS Rangers))!!!!
The NHL wants a boost? There is no better stage in the game.

8. Easily the most boring game of the 3 Winter Classics. |
|
I turned it off after the second intermission. Both national anthems were sung horribly. James Taylor just can't hit those high notes anymore. And I could have sang the Canadian anthem better then that twerp who I never heard of before, and without all those annoying twangs and voice crackings. And don't even get me started by the continuing marriage of militarism and sports that has intensified since 9-11. And did they really need to drag out Curt Schilling for his assinine views? "Catholicism, Boston and Baseball" are his three priorities? :puke:
The only thing worth watching was the Dropkick Murphys performing before the game.

I put football largely on hold during the hockey game (had to watch the crazy Northwestern-Auburn finish, of course!). I was rotating among bowls, the Purdue-WV basketball game (which was rather one-sided) and hockey and was struck by how much more absorbing the continuous action can be in hockey. It was especially annoying in the Rose Bowl, when every play within a yard of the sideline seemed to be under review (especially OSU's first TD).
Philly's goal was pretty hilarious - Taylor lost focus big-time! Maybe he needs to play defense...

11. Yeah, that was stupid of Tim Thomas |
|
He broke a cardinal rule of sports. He was still upset and thinking about a penalty call that wasn't made causing him to lose focus on what was actually happening at the time. Dumbass.

If the score had stayed 1-0 the loss would have been because of his stupid mistake.

10. But it was a tight game throughout |
|
I didn't watch the intermissions; it's the hockey I like.
