4. Hey now!
The Ducks haven't been competitive in football for as long as Ohio has. No need to knock a team down a peg or two that hasn't won a Rose Bowl since 1917.

17. Yes there is
I know a lot of Duck fans who have done nothing but rag on us Beavers for our poor showing against BYU. A lot of Duck fans were running their mouths after their narrow Civil War victory about how we are nothing but little brother to them. But most of all, now my sister has to shut up about how she loves her Ducks.

So yeah, I like watching them loose.

Certainly no shame in losing to them.

Congratulations Buckeyes!

Great games, today. All nailbiters. Why the college game is SO much better than the pro game.

6. Yay Buckeyes!
So much for a certain smarmy PAC10 fan who thought OSU was a " mediocre" team that couldn't beat anyone in that conference. PAC 10 not representing very well..

8. I was worried
because Oregon is a finesse team that runs a spread. The only one to do so, the rest of the Pac 10 run a pro style offense. Most of the Big 10 teams are physical balanced teams and usually finesse always loses. I thought Oregon would have a chance because unlike other spread teams they run the ball a lot but it looks like my questions were answered there.

9. I thinks today, Jon, Yavin's argument that speed always wins has been put to rest.
Maybe he'll take THE game seriously now.

24. Wasn't much difference in speed anyway.
James was quick, of course. But overall the Buckeyes don't exactly have their feet stuck in mud.

Historically The Bucks have been competitive with Pac 10 teams. I remember a certain O.J. Simpson led USC team.

22. C'mon now...
this is akin to a blind squirrel finding an acorn.

Prior to today, the last Big Ten Rose Bowl winner was Wisconsin in 2000...and the 3 years previous to this have all have been embarrassing defeats.

Come to think of it, I guess under those circumstances, I can understand your glee.

25. It wasn't long ago that
the NFC always won the Super Bowl. Remember that?

The Big Ten has done good over the years. The tide could turn at any time. The Big Ten won seven of ten in the decade of the 1990s. Ancient history?

28. LOL- is the PAC10 still "the best conference" in the country?
Talk about overrated. The Big 10 is doing better in its Bowls...Hell almost any conference is doing better..

29. To be honest..
this year, the answer is obviously no. The Pac-10 lacked two things this year...a strong USC, and defense.

30. What is interesting
is the the better defensive Pac 10 teams were matched up against teams with a better defense. I think Oregon was in the top 20 but Ohio State was #4 overall and with that spread teams more often than not lose against physical defenses.

Also Arizona was #22 in the nation but Nebraska was in the top 10. IIRC the Huskers were #2.

32. Yeah, the matchups weren't the best
and I was concerned about yesterday because, remember, Gerhart, Luck and Stanford pushed Oregon's defense around putting up over 50 points. Sure enough, the Ducks couldn't seem to stop what is realistically a mediocre offense from Ohio State.

33. If Stanford had anything that resembled a defense they would be in the Rose Bowl
They folded late against teams such as Arizona giving up 14 in the 4th qtr as well as 43 points and folding in the 4th against Wake Forest. Also giving up 38 to Oregon St in a loss. They also gave up 42 against Oregon and 38 against Notre Dame in wins.

Stanford according to my eye test was the best offensive team in the Pac 10, too bad they were soft defensively.

27. What the fuck happened to the Pac-10 I used to know?
Where's the spirit? Where's the guts? 2-5 in the bowl games is NOT ACCEPTABLE. The only Pac-10 teams who won a bowl game were SoCal teams USC and UCLA. The rest of the Pac-10 teams should be hanging their heads right about now, especially Arizona.

31. Arizona's performance was shameful....
there are high school teams that would have given a better account of themselves...and I'm not exaggerating. Schools like Long Beach Poly or De La Salle would have put up more than 109 total yards, maybe even scored.

And I wouldn't be crowing about USC either...playing in the Emerald Bowl, win or lose, is an embarrassment for Pete Carroll's program.
