"Redskins’ hiring of Shanahan appears imminent"
The Shanahan has landed

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 4, 2010 3:49 PM ET
Mike Shanahan is in Washington D.C. to meet with the Redskins, according to NBC 4 in Washington. The Associated Press has confirmed the report.

Shanahan landed at Dulles Airport and reportedly was whisked into a Dan Snyder car believed to be headed to the Redskins team facility. (Brad Childress oddly was their driver.)

The rapid movement on the Shanahan front means that we could have a press conference introducing him as Redskins head coach within a day or two.

UPDATE: The Washington Post writes that negotiations are expected to conclude after Shanahan's arrival. We passed along a report that Shanahan already spoke with G.M. Bruce Allen Monday.

3. But at least they'll get off to a good start
then crash and burn. :P Strangely, this phenomenon is now continuing under McDaniels.

5. "Texans' Shanahan Ready to Join Dad"
HOUSTON - Houston Texans offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan told FOX 26 Sports on Monday that if his father, Mike Shanahan, returns to the NFL as a head coach, he will join him.

Mike Shanahan was fired by the Denver Broncos after the 2008 season. He is expected to return to NFL as a head coach in 2010, perhaps with the Washington Redskins.

"If he does coach in the NFL, I plan on going with him," Kyle Shanahan said.

Kyle Shanahan has been with the Texans for four years, and has served as offensive coordinator the last two. He is close to Texans head coach Gary Kubiak....

Shit! What could be more wrong?

6. He has two SB rings
How many wins do the Broncos have without him? I seem to remember the Skins pasting the Broncos and their HOF QB in one game....
He'll be good in getting the Skins O-Line and running game going...Something they desperately need.

7. **snort** Without Elway, Shanahan will continue to suck as a coach.

:D

Don't forget that Elway ran the offense "under" Shanahan. So is Shanahan going to hand the offense over to Todd Collins??

8. He had 1 losing season (7-9) from 2000-2008
If that is sucking to you, I'll take it.

17. One of these people has Wade Phillips as a coach
So I think the concept of good coaching is foreign to them

19. But What Coach Would Be Better Than Shanahan?
Cowher only won the SB with Big Ben as his QB.

Belichick only won the SB with Brady as his QB.

Dungy only won the SB with Manning as his QB.

The only other coach to win multiple SBs with multiple QBs was Joe Gibbs, and the Skins have been there and done that.

16. Noodle arm Collins would not have lasted half the season
with that offensive line. JC was at least big and tough enough to take the weekly pounding.

18. Um, and how many did St Elway have without Shanahan?
Zilch...Shanahan is better than you give him credit for, I mean, it really worked out for the Broncos this year dumping him.
