Upset!! College of Charleston stuns No. 9 University of Dean Smith...
CHARLESTON, S.C.(AP) Bobby Cremins isn't even sure how his College of Charleston team managed this upset.

''Going on a 12-1 run with 4 minutes to go against North Carolina, usually that's lights out,'' Cremins said. ''So I've got to watch the tape tonight to figure out what happened.''

North Carolina won't want to be reminded how it happened.

The ninth-ranked Tar Heels (11-4) squandered an 11-point lead down the stretch and lost 82-79 in overtime to the Cougars on Monday night.

Charleston's Andrew Goudelock scored the last eight points in regulation, including the tying 3-pointer from about 28 feet over 6-foot-10 Ed Davis with 2 seconds left.

Donavan Monroe opened the overtime with a 3-pointer to put the Cougars ahead for good as they defeated a Top 25 team for the first time since beating the then-third ranked Tar Heels 66-64 on Dec. 5, 1998.

1. Hey! Hey! Lay Off Dean Smith!!!
He's a great liberal:

Which of this country's greatest sports legends is clenched-teeth against the Iraq war and the death penalty and is for gay rights?

Bill Bradley? Jim Brown? Bill Walton? Try Dean Smith.

In today's scandal-dripping land of college basketball, couldn't we all use a little Dean Smith? He wasn't just the winningest coach in history, he was one of the cleanest. In 36 years at North Carolina, he never had an NCAA violation. He was and is a man who stands tall for what he believes -- fans, talk show hosts and his accountant be damned.

2. I can't forgive him and his four-corners offense. What a stain on the game of
basketball.

4. For sure, but that's a fading memory
The NCAA killed that beast dead in the '80s with the shot clock. Yes, it was horrible for all the sense it made as a tactic. But nobody playing college hoops today was even born the last time it saw regular use.

3. Ok, so he's a good guy...
...but it's still nice to see an underdog come out on top now and again.

5. He IS a progressive, but holding the ball for 18 minutes against UVA with Jordan, Worthy and Sampson
on the floor was a crime against humanity.

7. That's my point. Captain! Regardless of whether he is a progressive or not,
Progressives can do things that other progressives hate! Just go over to GD:PP for an example of that!!

8. Dean Smith is just a small part of UNC
Once upon a time this member of the wrestling team kicked ass.

I agree about the Four Corners thing though.
