The Big Ten looked strong this year

Ohio State beat #7 Oregon
PSU beat #13 LSU
Wisconsin beat # 14 Miami
Iowa beat #9 Georgia Tech

and Northwestern lost Auburn in O.T. because they didn't have a kicker
Minnesota lost by 1 to Iowa St.
Michigan State played tough against a very good Texas Tech team.

1. A very good showing
I hope my Michigan team gets their act together and is part of a successful bowl season next year.

3. For once!
Series-ly...this stuff goes in cycles...some years some conferences are good, some years bad, and the problem with the BCS is it's based on reputation, so like last year a medicore OSU team go to the title game, because the Big 12 has the reputation...the rankings have more to do with reputation than with how a team is doing that particular year.

4. A good showing for the big 10.
A great showing for the Mountain West, who went 4-1 and got a BCS bid. Not terrible for the Big XII and SEC, who both have a chance to salvage that in the championship. An awful showing for the Pac 10.

5. I repeat...fire Ron Zook. Also, the conference needs Michigan to rebound (but still lose to OSU)

6. Texas Tech is weak
Don't be fooled by the pantyhose passing game and how it enthralls unsophisticated fans.

Otherwise, the Big Ten is impressive every year in most categories but some years they seem to fall off significantly in pass defense. Those are the seasons they are vulnerable. This season Iowa, Ohio State and Penn State were in the top 16 teams in the country in YPPA allowed, which stamped their legitimacy and made bowl wins hardly a surprise. Wisconsin and the other teams were much lower but Wisconsin got a very favorable matchup in a soft Canes team that hates blue collar foes. The Badgers and their poor 7.6 YPPA defense would have been in trouble against a more stalwart team.
