I repeat, congratulations to Boise State--National Champs!
Once more, the rigged BCS shows it favors the vastly over-rated SEC which barely gets by a badly hurt and over-rated team...let's have the SEC play some real teams once in a while and end this farce!

2. WHo decideds how good or not good those teams are...
...sportswriters, who decided subjectively...it's NOT a national championship UNLESS everyone gets a chance to win it.

3. Correct. It should only be called a BCS Championship.
Alabama is the champion of an arbitrary ranking system. Congrats, Tide.

Wish we could have one more game: Boise St. vs Alabama. Would LOVE to see that.

4. It's time to take the BCS to court...
...that's the only way it will end...far too many schools benefit financially from this rigged system for there to be a revolt by the universities themselves.

19. It's rare I agree with upton but he nails it here.
That schedule is a fucking joke. Noisy State is so overrated. And get rid of that goddamn ugly field. Jebus.

8. Gee, did they play this year?
No, and let's talk about alabama getting whomped last year by Utah, the same Alabama that almost made the BCS championship game last year, that was undefeated for most of the season.

12. Compare their recruiting. Boise State allowed 35 points to LA Tech this year...
Alabama did not allow more than 24 points in any game this season and they played a much tougher schedule than Boise State.

But somehow in your skewed up view the SEC is over-rated and Boise State are the national champions!

11. 2008 Sugar Bowl
An SEC team, Georgia (10-2) met another overrated small time pretender from Boise State's WAC in a 12-0 Hawaii team.

Final score..Georgia-41 Hawaii-10

14. Like you said...different year, different teams
Since you keep bringing up last year's Alabama - Utah game. One could also argue that what happened there has happened before - a letdown game after a tough conference championship loss. One could also argue that last year's Utah was a far better team than this year's Boise State, but what's the point?

In your words, different years, different teams. Can't have it both ways.

As an aside, it came out this morning (or late last night, actually) that Alabama's QB McElroy was playing with two cracked ribs. He was definitely not 100%. Guess we could argue all day about how the game would have looked with a 100% healthy McCoy vs. a 100% healthy McElroy.

15. Point is, it's all a farce
I'd bet on the Tide over Boise State, but you know what? I never saw Boise State play this year. I don't know what would happen on the field. You can't ask more of a team than to win, and that's the only outcome Boise State had this year. Short of a playoff, "National Champion" will always be an opinion, not a fact.

18. Woody Paige is an idiot
at least he plays one on ESPN.

And of those "five bowl teams".. 2 are from the WAC (Idaho and Nevada), another from the MAC (Bowling Green)....and of those 3, none are even ranked in the top 25.

Btw, UW, with a 5-7 record and the 7th place finisher in the Pac-10, defeated one of Paige's WAC "bowl teams" Idaho 42-23.

beat at least five teams that won their bowl game.

How can you be the real national champs when you're ranked fourth, anyway?

17. The SEC schedule is playing real teams all season long
I'm all for a playoff system. Two SEC teams in every other national championship game would have ranters and ravers wanting to end that farce as well. What would be the next evolution? Banning the SEC from any championship tourney? That would work.

FOUR BCS CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW. Six out of 11. Not one loss in a BCS championship game.

Texas isn't a REAL Team? Cincinnati isn't a REAL team?

Play a schedule with REAL teams like Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia. Your argument is Mute. And irrelevant.
