Fill in the team that fits this sentence. Any league/sport.

33. When I was a kid in the 70's and early 80's...
Edited on Tue Jan-12-10 05:00 PM by Forkboy
...the Bruins went something like 8 years without winning a single game in Montreal. And at the time there were far fewer teams in the NHL so it was a lot of losses per year. My father and I would celebrate if they crossed the Canadiens blue line. And the Bruins were good, it just didn't matter against Montreal, the bastards!

I have tremendous respect for the team, their history and what they've meant to hockey, but I still hate them. :)

10. The Yankees.
Even when they Sox had a chance to clinch the division against the Rays in '08, I still couldn't bring myself to root for them. The wild card was good enough.

The ONLY possibility that I would ever root for them would be if a Yankee win meant the Sox got into the playoffs, and without it, they were out. I'd need to shower afterwords, though.

Close runners up would be the Lakers, any other NYC team (I don't have anything against Buffalo), Ohio State, the Miami Hurricanes, and the Eagles.

I don't have an issue with Philly in general, or even the Eagles, but Andy Reid has cost me too much money in fantasy football over the last three years to ever root for them while he's in charge. F' Andy Reid.

22. Any Team From Denver, Cincinnati, Or Texas
Don't like the other two cities, even a little (and yes, i've been to both, many times each), and really dislike the superiority complex of Texas.

So, if the teams are from there, i will never root for them. In fact, i'll actively root against them.

(Full disclosure: Not a NY thing, but i hate the Mets. Every year when the Mets play the Reds, i scan the rule book hoping to find some way that both teams can lose.)

73. Because when the NBA expanded, they verbally promised not to take Rick Mahorn
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 01:11 PM by LisaM
but they took him anyway. There was a piece in the Free Press about it - they told about him at the celebration for the NBA championship - he'd gone to celebrate with his teammates and the fans, and left hearing he'd been taken by the Timberwolves in the expansion draft (the article described him as sitting in his truck in the parking lot with his bag of souvenirs, fighting back tears). The Timberwolves lied. So I vowed then that I hoped they would never win a game, not one game.

Figures they'd have an expansion draft when the Pistons were at their peak!!! They couldn't protect everyone, so they left Mahorn exposed based on Minnesota's word. Between that and the Brandon Inge incident - can we really trust Minnesotans on anything?

In general, ANY team in Mass. because of their holier-than-thou fan base.

61. Cowboys and Yankees
I would say Buckeyes, too, but upon further reflection there have been times I've been OK with their winning even if I couldn't exactly root for them.

Oh, and Notre Dame.

71. The New York Yankees
Sadly I'm an Orioles fan displaced in Jersey full of front-running fuckers. Id say the Cowboys, but growing up here, I have a strong hatred of the giants and Eagles too, and when they play, I dont know who to root for.

97. I actually don't mind at all most other teams
It's just a few clubs that I dislike, most especially the blunts.

Some of the whinging and whining they came out with when Bumhole Lane wasn't selected as one of the grounds for England's 2018 World Cup bid was priceless.

95. I would never root for...
the Red Sox, the Cowboys, the Devils or Brazil. I can't pick a college, because I may end up getting a job at Texas or Florida one day. So, despite being a fervent OU fan, I can't say I'd never root for Texas.

Sure do hate the Trojans, though.

Pro teams tough to decide.

I'll go with Seahawks for the NFL.

Utah Jazz for the NBA.

Arizona Diamondbacks for MLB.

(teams I dislike)

edit-I dislike the Yankees more than the D-Backs. I was focusing on divisional rivalries for the purpose of this thread. Also when it comes to the NFL I probably dislike the Cowboys more.
