Congratulations to Heisman Winner: Matt Leinart, USC
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 09:26 PM by goodbody
Congratulations to Matt for an impressive winning record at USC. He picked up the pieces after losing one of the most impressive players in college ball, Mike Williams. Without the powerhouse, Mike Williams, Matt developed other young players on the USC team and just kept winning.

Great job!

1. Way to go, Matt!
:toast:

He's a cutie, which is why I hoped he won!

2. his versatility
Matt started off replacing Heisman winner USC quarterback, Carson Palmer. But during his first season (2003), Matt had all-American Mike Williams to help complete his impressive stats. Without Mike, Matt has really proven his abilities. He just went to work and developed his teammates. Nothing was handed to him; he earned it.

And he is a very nice, respectful person. He's a winner!

3. He's worthy, but
The best football player is Reggie Bush. This guy is a freak, in the best sense of the word. Quintessential gamebreaker.

But Leinart's ok by me. Props to him because he's working with WR's that are 'just ok' div 1-wise it seems. The TE is good and bush is a freak, but the WR's are certainly no BMW or Colbert from last years team.

4. Reggie Bush is awesome -- true

And to think he was playing (basically) second-fiddle to Mike Williams just a year ago is amazing. Mike Williams, if he had stayed eligible, would have been the crowing jewel on USC. Mike Williams and Leinart were a match in heaven. Reggie Bush just stepped in and performed amazingly and it has become: Mike who?

It's scary to think what USC could be with Mike Williams, Reggie Bush AND Matt Leinart. And they're all not even seniors yet.

I'll have to check and see if Mike Williams could be eligible next year. What a powerhouse USC would be with all of them.

5. edit: crowning jewel, not
crowing jewel. Apoligize for the misspelling that is too late to correct.

6. Definitely agree on Bush
No offense to Leinart, who is obviously a very good player, but Bush is the hands down best player this year. My ballot would have probably been Bush, Peterson, Leinart, White, Arrington. I don't like how it always seems to go to the QB on the best/hottest team. USC could be even scarier next year, especially if Leinart comes back.

7. Bush has more chances to win it... I agree with the choice of Leinart

and you know what the best thing was? He thanked his team, his coach, and his family and he did NOT thank, "My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!" How refreshing was that???? I don't like the public affectations of religion anyway, but thanking Jesus for winning a sports trophy is tantamount to saying that Jesus also chose NOT to give it to the other three or four guys.
