Niners-Broncos in London in 2010
LONDON (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers will play the Denver Broncos next season at Wembley Stadium, the fourth straight year the NFL will stage a regular-season game in the British capital.

The game will played on Oct. 31, and the 49ers will be listed as the home team.

"For the past three years we have seen the extraordinary passion that exists for NFL football in the U.K.," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "We want to continue to build on that passion by strengthening our ties to our existing U.K. fans and creating new ones."

The game between the five-time Super Bowl champion 49ers and two-time winner Broncos may not be the only one in Britain next season.

"The NFL will continue to explore the possibility of playing a second game in the UK in 2010," the NFL said.

The 49ers and Broncos struggled to 8-8 records this season and missed the playoffs.

"Yes, London. You know, fish, chips, cup o' tea. Bad food, worse weather. Mary fuckin' Poppins. London!"

14. I think its bad to send any team over there
because one of the two is going to "lose" a home game as the Saints did a few years ago. If the NFL wants to stimulate Europe have a couple preseason games over there. They wouldn't care who won and wouldn't care if there were mass substitutions.

19. It's about a 10 or 11 hour flight from San Francisco to London
Imagine stuffing your bruised and aching body into an airline seat for the trip home.

Screws up the weekly schedule too. I agree -- this is bad for any team.

15. Mad - yes they did and it was BAD
It was the last gasp for the Super Bowl Broncos and Dan Reeves.

Previously we had lost to the Giants BIG.

Then we jumped all over the Redskins early and it was looking like we could blow them out and then...Doug Williams and Timmy Smith happened.

Finally, Elway gets a crack at the Niners and Montana and they get DESTROYED in a 55-10 rout.

We got Super Bowls 32-33 - but those three ass kickings still hurt today for this Broncos fan.

17. Screw the NFL
This deprives the 49ers of a home game. I don't care what Goodell, York or anybody else says...THAT is not acceptable.

20. Dude! Then why did the Forty-whiners accept the offer???
They must obviously be getting compensated very well for the effort. Just admit that you are pissed you will have to get up before 10:00am to watch the game!!

18. Why not take a home game from, say, the Jags instead?
At least in London they wouldn't have to board up half the stadium. :eyes:

Of course, the Brits would probably think the team was sponsiored by the car company.
