New hiring points to Wade Phillips’ return as Dallas Cowboys coach

Jones has not picked up Phillips’ contract option for next season. Phillips is in the final year of his contract, but considering that he led the Cowboys (12-5) to the NFC East title and a berth in Sunday’s NFC divisional playoff game against Minnesota, it’s safe to assume he will return in 2010 as head coach.
