Lincecum submits $13 million for arbitration
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 07:11 PM by madinmaryland
Tim Lincecum is asking for $13 million in arbitration from the San Francisco Giants while the team will counter with an $8 million offer, SI.com has learned.

Lincecum, 25, won his second straight National League Cy Young award in 2009 after going 15-7 with a 2.48 ERA while leading the league in complete games (4), shutouts (2) and strikeouts (248) in 225 1/3 innings.

If Lincecum and the Giants are unable to reach a settlement, an arbitration panel will pick one of the salaries during a hearing to be held in February. The highest salary ever awarded in arbitration is the $10 million Ryan Howard of the Philadelphia Phillies got after the 2006 season.

3. Since you're so interested in the Giants mad, you'll be happy to know Bengie Molina is coming back
Source: cbs5.com

In a surprising twist, Bengie Molina has agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million contract to stay with the San Francisco Giants, CBS 5 has learned. Molina's family on Tuesday confirmed the deal that keeps the free-agent catcher in a Giants uniform for the 2010 season. "We're excited to be returning to San Francisco," Molina's wife, Jamie, told CBS 5.

11. That's a shame. He coulda been a Met!
Oh well. I didn't really care if we got him or not.
Although he is the only Molina brother of the three that I like.

I still hold a grudge against Yadier for his home run in the ninth inning of Game 7 in the 2006 NLCS. Plus he looks like a punk with that sneer he always seems to have.
Jose played for both the Yankees and the Cubs. I dislike him on principal.

12. I found this interesting...
Lincecum was picked 10th in the 2006 draft, which means 9 teams passed on the future two time Cy Young award winner..One of those 9 was the Dodgers*, who picked 7th that year and went with Clayton Kershaw.

How's THAT working out for ya?
