NFL lockout would force Ochocinco to become Ochocincodinho
With the threat of an NFL lockout in 2011, Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco is already coming up with a contingency plan -- he's going to dominate European football. That's right. Dominate it. And he claims to be serious. Just last week, he tweeted from the bastion of crazypants journalism that is the Ocho Cinco News Network: "this isnt a joke either, i am sad that it might come to this but excited to play futbol in SPAIN until we resume NFL play."

Don't think he can? Well, he's been spouting off about his skills on the pitch since 2006, when he told Sports Illustrated:

I played soccer before football, and I was good. That's where I get my quick feet -- my feet are unbelievable. When I got to high school , I had to choose between the sports because they were in the same season. I chose football because I saw more opportunity, but it broke my heart. I still follow soccer; I watched every minute I could of the World Cup. I like to think I play football like Ronaldinho, with the trick moves and the anticipation. When he plays soccer, he looks completely different from everybody else. I try to do that too.

Yep, he watched every minute of the last World Cup and likes to think that he plays like Ronaldinho, two-time FIFA World Player of the Year. Clearly he's ready to make the transition (read: no he's not).

So Spain it is! Or is it? While simply naming a European country is just vague enough to be plausible -- I'm sure a third division or amateur side would love the media attention -- Chad got more specific back in October when he tweeted that he'd be "playing with Ronaldinho in Milan." That predates the OCNN, though, so it's hard to say if that counts as an official report.

Now, an NFL lockout would of course be an unfortunate event, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit hopeful that it happens just to see if Chad 8-5 actually attempts the switch. I mean, once he shakes off the rust and gets back to the supposedly fine form of his pre-high school days (OK, this is sounding more ridiculous by the word), maybe he'd be pretty good?
