The "Official" DU Sports Forum 2010 March Madness Thread!!!!
Too early? Naw...the regular season is over and the conference tournaments begin...post anything and everything. Hokie, I believe, will start a pool which last year was part of a separate thread.

129. Syracuse did NOT become the first #1 seed to blow it
I was worried without Onoaku but they cruised, albeit getting down to an 8 point lead at one time in the 2nd. I was at my mom's couldn't get MMOD on her older computer to watch the whole game. Lots of Syracuse fans complained that MMOD was giving them problems.

Now on to the Zags. Hopefully they won't shoot lights out from the 3 point line.

11. I'm not even sure what the brackets look like for the Big East...
...WVU gets a double bye, I'm pretty sure, ND at 7 gets a single bye...I think Syracuse is a lock at #1 but if they bomb out early, maybe not. The pool for #1 is Syracuse, Duke, UWV, Kansas and Kentucky...can't see anyone else sneaking in...maybe OSU or Purdue depending how others do in their tournaments.

78. WVU got the short end, imo
if they weren't going to be a #1 over Duke, they should have been in the same bracket.

Kansas, Kentucky and Syracuse I think were legit #1's.

Looking at it though it appeared that the committee thought more highly of Villanova than they did of WVU.

a couple weeks ago you were claiming that only 1 team from the Pac-10 was going to get in. So, at best your half right..and that may change if ASU squeaks in. Though losing in the first round of the Pac-10 tournament probably blew their chances..

No one disputes that the Pac-10 is having a down year. And congratulations to the Big Ten for playing such good basketball.

You know there was a time when the Big Ten was known primarily for football. Of course, those were the days when the best football in the nation was played there. Unfortunately for you my friend....that's no longer true.

If the great basketball fans in beautiful Starkville had not thrown batteries and water bottles at the UK bench when the Cats beat them in OT the first time this season maybe their Karma wouldn't have sucked so bad. A damn good team with a great coach had to overcome that. A pity

Their fans sound like asses. Still, I think they warranted a spot; they had Kentucky on the ropes, and it was only because of Cousins' put-back that they aren't SEC champs.

83. Yes, but Cousins did put it back which is why UK is the SEC champ
I like Mississippi States team and coach, The fans are sort of basketball ignorant. Stansbury, from KY, is a great coach that MSU and the SEC should be proud to have. They should be playing in the NCAA's.

85. Arizona State
Well maybe losing to Stanford in the first round of the Pac 10 tourney blew their chances. However I still think they had a good season beating some of the teams that are in the tourney (Wash, San Diego St, etc) and didn't have any really bad losses. Besides losing to Stanford and Arizona is the worst. The played tough competition very well and kept it close against them such as Duke, BYU, Baylor, etc. Also they were a very good defensive team too that I believe could of gave some teams problems. I'm proud because "experts" picked ASU to finish #7 in the Pac-10 when in fact they finished #2 in the regular season. Damn Stanford. x(

:wtf:

They had a 10+ point lead with 6 minutes left then started to relax including myself. Here I am sitting here waiting for the win and next thing you know Jacksonville is down by two with the ball and banks the game winning 3 point shot to win the first round of the NIT.

:argh:  :grr:

At least Arizona State baseball is #1 in the nation. :woohoo:

124. I sat in the stands cheering for them and the women's teams hundreds of times, so...
it hurt to be in Toronto at an important luncheon when they were on yesterday.

When it was over I immediately ran to a bar that had a couple of sleepy guys watching Premier League, and saw the score and started jumping around and cheering all by myself. Not my most dignified moment...

until Florida's beat player fouled out early in the second overtime then they switched to show the last 25 seconds of the Villanove game then when they switched back BYU had an 8 point lead. However it was still a hell of a game and Florida had the last shot at the end of regulation and the first OT to win but they missed. :)

It was quite frustrating, because Robert Morris had an 8 point lead at the under four timeout, when I lost the feed, and I didn't get to see how 'Nova came back.

Wound up being quite a great game, though!
