49ers trade Shaun Hill to Lions..
Now Shaun has to suffer through the misery of playing in Detroit....

The 49ers have traded quarterback Shaun Hill to the Detroit Lions for what's believed to be a seventh-round pick in the 2011 draft, a league source confirmed Sunday morning.

The trade is pending the delivery of Carr's signed contract and Hill's physical with the Lions, the source said. Carr received the original contract while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas last week. He is expected to deliver the document when he arrives today in the Bay Area for the 49ers' offseason conditioning program, which begins Monday.

Hill was given permission earlier this week to seek a trade after the club agreed to contract terms with free-agent quarterback David Carr on a two-year, $6.25 million contract. The addition of Carr meant Hill no longer fit into the 49ers' plans.

1. Only winning quarterback on the roster...
Never had a shot at the spread offense. I think he would have excelled -- better than Alex Smith.

Hill got a bum deal. I wish him the best of luck.

3. Well..at least they got something for him..
but I agree with you...I would have rather seen Smith go. No doubt the only reason he's still around is because the Niners don't want to admit they made a mistake by drafting him.

They just gave up on Hill after the poor Houston first half....I don't believe he ever started another game.

2. Quick, let's kick Detroit out of the NFL so he won't have to suffer this indignity.
The nerve of it all. You'd think the NFL was a business or something.

5. Good grief, was Hill a clubhouse problem?
Isn't that why one team trades a player to the Lions?

Isn't a little like trading a player to the Mets in the early/mid-sixties?
