Soccer (MLS) league, players reach labor deal
Source: Philly.com

By Marc Narducci

The Union can now depart for Seattle this week knowing that Thursday's opener of their inaugural MLS season against the Sounders FC will go on without a hitch.

The MLS and the players' union announced yesterday that they have reached agreement in principle on the terms of a five-year collective bargaining contract that begins with the 2010 season and continues through Dec. 31, 2014.

The previous five-year contract expired on Jan. 31.

Recently, the players' union had voted to strike if a new labor contract wasn't agreed to prior to the first game.

2. If they went on strike, how would anyone know?
And why would anyone care? Glad they have an agreement. Just more soccer to ignore.

7. Don't lose heart after the Sounders take them apart
Although I hope LeToux gets to play and scores one on us. We never should have let him go.

6. Glad they got it done...
I had been reading about how this might not get done. The MLS is a great league. It's not great football by any means but it's still football and the games are a blast.

Up Chicago Fire!!!
