Mississippi State destroys #2 seed Buckeyes
PITTSBURGH (AP) -Alexis Rack drove through and around Ohio State's slow-to-react defense for 30 points and seventh-seeded Mississippi State upset the second-seeded Buckeyes 87-67 on Tuesday night to reach the NCAA women's tournament round of 16 for the first time.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed by as many as eight points in the first half, only to use their quickness, adept ball movement and outside shooting to seize control with an 18-0 run that turned a 32-26 deficit into a 44-32 lead. They never looked back in avenging a second-round loss to the Buckeyes a season ago.

Another defeat for the Big Ten. Could they be lagging behind in women's sports?

1. I know Title IX is very important, upton, but you are talking about
Women's Basketball. You must be referring the Pathetic Athletic Conference - 10.

Sad, just very sad.

2. I can see..
that like Condem you need a little reminder...

Even more impressive has been the breadth of the Pac-10's success, with championships coming in 26 different men's and women's sports. The Pac-10 has led the nation in NCAA Championships in 43 of the last 49 years and finished second five times.

Spanning nearly a century of outstanding athletics achievements, the Pac-10 has captured 380 NCAA titles (261 men's, 119 women's), far outdistancing the runner-up Big Ten Conference's 222 titles

I have the numbers on my side...nothing more need be said.

Btw, I see nothing wrong with women's basketball, particularly when Stanford is good...which is almost every year. It may not be as big as the men's game, but it all counts when your adding up titles...And in that area thePremier Athletic Conference-10 rules..

3. Well, upton, most of those are just fluff activities, except of course for the title
that the Stanford women won in rowing. My wife also competed in Division 1 rowing at Marist, so I do believe that is a premiere win for the Stanford women.

5. A lot of those titles were won when CA was the envy of the Nation in
education. Then you voted your taxes away. Things have changed.

6. Yes, let's talk about women's sports
Penn State - Women's Volleyball Champion, 2007-2009 (beating Stanford TWICE in that run)
Wisconsin - Women's Hockey Champion, 2009
Northwestern - Women's Lacrosse Champion, 2005-2009

Wow, what a lag. :eyes:
