3. Surprising for myself
I can't take Urban Meyer's side over the sportswriters in this case. Normally sports writers are jerks and I take the player's side 99%(maybe a bit high of an exaggeration) of the time. In this case there is nothing I can come up with to defend Meyer except that he might be stressed but it's not the reporter's problem and there is no reason for him to blow up like that when he quoted a player and asked an innocent question.

6. He's a hypocrite too.
What the hell happened to the "I need to take time off for my health/stress reasons". As well, talk about being insensitive to your family.

10. I thought that was pretty bad on his part:
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 12:00 PM by petronius
Meyer: "I'm retiring."
Daughter: "Yay! I get my dad back!"
Meyer: "No, on second thought, these kids (the players) need me."

:wtf:

(Obviously, I made up all these quotes for dramatic effect...)

7. Dude! Tebow was Meyer's meal ticket. Without Tebow,
Meyer would still be a second rate coach. (still is)

That's why he got so upset.

8. I woudn't call him "second rate"
He did win National Coach of the Year with Utah and led them to an undefeated season and BCS Bowl victory. Also regarding his first National Championship, while Tebow was a big contributor, Chris Leak played the majority of the snaps and you don't get an .800+ winning percentage solely because of one player.

He was obviously an asshole in this situation but he is not a second rate coach by any stretch of the imagination.

11. Meyer sounds like he's ready to crack up.
Will he do it during practice, at home, or on national TV?

13. Meyer Needs To Get His Priorities Straight
Tim Tebow is gone and Meyer needs to focus on the 2010 Florida team.

Meyer should be thrilled that his player expressed confidence in new QB Brantley during spring practice.

16. Meyer apologizes to writer in 'constructive' talk
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Urban Meyer apologized Saturday to the reporter he berated earlier this week for publishing a quote by one of his players.

Meyer spent more than 20 minutes with the Orlando Sentinel's Jeremy Fowler following spring practice.

Fowler declined to divulge details of the discussion, but called it a "constructive" conversation and said he accepted Meyer's apology.

Meyer did not speak with reporters.

Meyer lashed out at Fowler on Wednesday, calling him a "bad guy" and threatening to ban the newspaper for publishing a quote in which receiver Deonte Thompson called John Brantley a "real quarterback."

Thompson meant to say that Brantley was a more conventional or prototypical passer than Tim Tebow.
