Donovan McNabb swapped to Redskins
The Philadelphia Eagles have reached agreement on a blockbuster intra-division trade that will send perennial Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins, according to multiple sources close to the situation.

The two sides still must finalize language, but McNabb is now headed to Washington. Compensation is not yet known, but it is likely to include Washington's 2010 second-round pick.

The move means the Redskins now have a new starting quarterback and the Eagles have a new one as well in Kevin Kolb. Michael Vick is now in line as the team's backup.

Sources said McNabb's contract, which has one year and $11.2 million left on it, scared off several other teams. McNabb is due a $6.2 million roster bonus on May 5 and is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2010 season.

1. 2nd verse same as the first
:banghead:

So much for rebuilding the team through the draft. McNabb better get used to picking himself up off the turf with that OL

2. wow.....
I'm shocked that the Eagles got rid of McNabb so quickly, almost like they said,"get the hell out of here!" And to the Redskins of all teams :eyes:
meanwhile, poor Jason Campbell has been shafted yet again--maybe he could go to the Raiders or Cardinals.

3. We'll see after the season
As a Cardinals fan I would like to see what Leinart's got going into the final year of his contract. He looked good in limited action last year plus he has the experience of learning from a HOF QB. Next off-season if he has a bad year than they can look into adding Campbell.

4. The Eagles management group are idiots.
You don't trade inside your own division. This is going to to come back to haunt them.

7. According to rumors this weekend
Reid's and McNabb's relationship had a lot to do with what teams they were willing to do with. I think the word used was "banish", he was unwilling to "banish" him to Buffalo or Oakland.

Along with the #37th overall pick, Washington is going to give up a 3rd or 4th round pick next year.

14. But he was willing to banish him to Landover?
Last I checked, Buffalo (7-9) was nearly as competitive as the Indigenous Persons. (Oakland, not so much. :( )

15. It was McNabb's first choice out of those 3 teams
All had top 10 2nd round picks where the Eagles wanted a top 42 pick. I don't think any teams wanted to give up a first round pick so that limited their options.

I think the main issue was the system. He has been in a west coast offense his whole career, Shanahan runs the west coast offense but it is much more of a heavy-run variation of the west coast. So he'll be in a familiar system. I also think Washington has a better coach and better receivers than Oakland or Buffalo.

Slight correction, Buffalo was 6-10. :)

6. Didn't the Eagles also trade Sonny Jorgenson to the Skins?
How did that work out for them?

8. This Kolb guy has hardly even played..
and when he has he's got a career QB rating of 68.9

What makes the Eagles think he can do the job?

10. That QB rating hurts because
Edited on Sun Apr-04-10 09:09 PM by JonLP24
of the numbers he put up in his first game action. Last year he played pretty well, granted it was limited. Last year he threw 64.6%, 741 yards, 7.7 ypa, 4 TDs-3 Int. That is QB rating of 88.9.

However I don't think it was wise to trade inside their division and a lot well depend on who they draft with that pick.

9. First they sign Michael Vick, then they trade McNabb within their division
A couple of WTF moments. They either have a lot of confidence in Kolb, or they don't think much of the rest of the Redskin's offense.

11. Bizarre trade all around.
The Eagles lose a QB that has three or four years left, and the Redskins get a QB who needs protection from their front line (which they don't have). The Redskins will be lucky if he can even stay healthy next year.

13. Vinnie is gone, but the Dan and Vinnie show continues on.
McNabb will be lucky to last half the season.
