The McNabb trade according to Dallas fans and pundits
from http://www.bloggingtheboys.com/2010/4/5/1405532/mcnabb-to-d-c-elway-redux-or#storyjump
Both members of their football operation, GM Bruce Allen and HC Mike Shanahan, know the value of veteran QBs, Shanahan more than Allen...Combine that with low odds of obtaining Sam Bradford (Washington lacks young depth to trade and already lacked a 3rd round pick) and the lure of McNabb became quite strong.

Add an impulsive owner, who has never met a potential free agent he didn't like and you have the conditions for a deal.

Reid's deal indicates he does not fear McNabb.

This trade leaves the Eagles with even more draft picks and as a team that drafts well historically, the rebuilding phase might be a short one.

from http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/04/cowboys-should-benefit-from-mc.html

The Dallas Cowboys should be pleased Philadelphia traded quarterback Donovan McNabb to Washington on Sunday night. Keeping McNabb in the NFC East ranks as good news to the Cowboys.

For the last five seasons, the Cowboys have had McNabb's number. In that span, which includes a playoff game last season, McNabb is only 3-7 against the Cowboys with a poor touchdown-interception rate (9-6) and a mediocre quarterback rating of 78.1. McNabb lost all three starts against the Cowboys last season, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns (3-2) and taking 11 sacks.

I expect the Redskins to be as tough as always for Dallas next year.

1. "Rebuilding phase might be a short one"
I, for one, have been impressed how the Eagles franchise has managed to stay competitive for so long (8 playoff appearances in 10 years, 12 over the last 20)). Love their decisions or hate them, they've done a better job than Washington and a many other teams (San Francisco, Cleveland, Detroit, etc.)

3. As much as I loathe the Eagles,
it is undeniable how good they've been...they'll find a way to contend, but I still think the NFC East race is between NY & Dallas next year.

4. I've always admired that about him.
I bet Snyder and Rush are buds.
