DeAngelo Hall says Skins will dominate NFC East
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2010/04/deangelo_hall_says_skins_will.html

Near the conclusion of Saturday's draft party at FedEx Field, DeAngelo Hall came down to the field to address the fans. Always comfortable with a microphone in his hands, Hall told this story of how a fan had recently asked him about the possibility of a 16-0 season. Hall said he couldn't guarantee 16 wins, but he felt good about 11 or 12.

Now, obviously he was playing to the crowd, but I asked him a few minutes later why he thought 11 or 12 wins were a possibility for a team coming off a 4-12 meltdown.

"It's based on the talent we feel like we've got," he said. "It's based on the improvements I feel like we've made. It's based on the scheme. The scheme alone is gonna give us four or five more wins. The games we lost by two, three points, we'll win those games, easy.

"We'll dominate our division, off of bringing Donovan McNabb in here, a guy who's dominated the division in the past. So that's just an educated guess. That's an educated guess, and I stand behind. I'll stand behind that. I'll fight and claw to try to make that happen."

That's...I guess optimistic would be a word for it. But Hall is correct that McNabb has had much success against the NFC East. These are, I believe, his records as a starter against the division, including playoff games.

11-7 vs. Giants
12-7 vs. Redskins
11-9 vs. Cowboys

The total is 34-23, which works out to a .596 winning percentage, which might not be domination, but it's sure better than the reverse.

Yeap. There will be three teams in the NFC East remembering Hall's comments. Onto the bulletin board it goes!!

2. Say, help me out...I'm bad at Math...can all NFC teams go 0-16 this coming season?
That would make me happy.

3. Why?
Who are the players doing that for? I mean saying, "He's great and we're going to have our hands full." That, who are they saying that for? The coaches? Do they all have a pact that says, 'Don't bash my players and I won't bash yours.'?

I like what Hall said if it's how he really feels. What I don't like is the phony, cliche answers players give at interviews.

5. Whether they will or won't
They should be playing 100%, especially against a divisional opponent.

It is something that doesn't make sense because there is trash talk on almost every play. You put up a mike against these players, especially on defense and the likes of Ray Lewis, Darnell Dockett, etc. They are trash talking the whole game so it's already going on in-games.

7. The thing is, it is going to give even more incentive to go out and play even
harder. It's one of those intangibles that inevitably will pump a team up.

9. What I think
is one of the coaches (if he even bothers) is going to bring a paper and say, "This is what Hall said." -"ok"-"Now let's focus on the things that are going to help us win."

Also I bring up people like Darnell Dockett who trash talks 24/7 whether thru the media or on the playing field because he does seem to back it up and why would he since everyone theoretically would be pumped up by his comments?

8. In theory, yes.

But there are instances where the underdog has been fired up and played above their expected level.

And trash talk is different than major media exposure, no?

Hall possibly becomes a target himself, should anyone want to teach him a lesson.
