1. Past the point where any one can say they're chokers.

THIS is the Sharks team everyone expected to see last year. Beating Detroit is serious shit, and it doesn't happen by accident. The Sharks look to be the real deal this year. That may not mean a Cup is theirs, but it does mean they have as good a shot as anyone still in it.

2. Fun series factoid: The Sharks were actually outscored in the series 17-15

yet won the series 4-1 in games.

Perhaps we should ask our friends at Elias Sports Bureau if that has ever happened before. :-)

4. And another fun factoid

two penalty shots were awarded in the series, one to each side. Both failed. (Could this be because goalies nowadays regularly see barrages of them in the dreaded shootouts? :shrug: )

5. Goalies always do well against breakaways.

I read years ago, long before they had the shootout, that NHL goalies stop a little over 7 out of 10 breakaways. You'd think the shooter has the advantage, but they really don't. The number might be even higher as goalie equipment has gotten bigger since I read what I'm talking about.

I hate them, but only 'cause I'm a Kings fan. I used to hate the Atlanta Braves back when they were chokers and in the same division as the Dodgers. But I still felt bad for them. Good luck in the West Finals.
