3. He'd be the career home run leader if not for injuries
A shame really; he could have been up there as one of the greatest of all time, but he should still make the Hall of Fame.

4. Imagine how many he would have had if he had pulled a Bonds or McGwire.
He surely would have been injured less.

9. No kidding.
He could have hit 800-900 HR's if he were on the juice.

6. Griffey belongs in a wheelchair not on the field..
this issue has turned into a soap opera in the Puget Sound area. The old man was caught sleeping in the clubhouse during a game, he's batting an even .200 with 0 HR/5 RBI and 2 (t-w-o) extra base hits. Remember this guy is Seattle's DH against RH pitching. Now, Griffey has gone into sulking mode and the team is refusing to talk to the Tacoma newspaper (TNT) that first reported the sleeping story.

There are two different Griffeys:

From 1989 through 1999, his averages are:

BA=.299, H=158, R=97, HR=36, RBI=105, OBP=.380, OPS+=149.

From 2000 to April 24 of this year, his averages are:

BA=.263, H=94, R=54, HR=21, RBI=62, OBP=.357, OPS+=118.

Griffey should have retired years ago. For hasn't been the "best" at anything for a very long time..

7. I suppose if he had decided to cheat time and used the cream like a lot
of other players, he could have had gaudy stats until he was 40.

:eyes:

8. You once told me A-Roid was clean too..
how'd that work out for ya? You may have even claimed the same about Manny* but I'm not absolutely sure.. so I'll let you slide.

Griffey's producing of "gaudy stats" occurred in the '90s, right when the steroid era was at it's height. Of course, he was playing in the homer happy Kingdome then, but still it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he used something....to what extent, who knows?

Whatever the reasons, grandpa hasn't been the same player since he originally left Seattle a decade ago..

15. Griffet dropoff
I think that Griffey had a really long swing compared to Bonds. Once he reached the years after 200 that longer swing worked against him. It gave him the HR's early. Bond's had a much more compact swing and that proved more valuable as he got older.
