SI.com reports Cavs fire Mike Brown
May 14, 2010, 2:01PM / cleveland.com

The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired coach Mike Brown, according to two league sources who have shared information with SI.com.

However, Plain Dealer beat reporter Brian Windhorst tweeted about the SI report that his sources are telling him Brown has not been fired as of this moment.

The Cavaliers finished with the best regular season record two years in a row, and it was Brown who guided the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2007. Brown was also coach of the year last season.

1. So they're throwing the coach under the bus, huh?
I think LeBron is just thinking ahead to his big payday when he goes free agent. Wotta crock.

2. I'm getting the impression he really wasn't the coach...LBJ more
or less made the calls.

3. After last night, I'd can him too.
When a team quits like they did at the end it tells me there's no real coaching there. He just stood there as much as his players. It his job to get them not to quit, not join them when they do.

5. That was the most bizarre thing I have seen in a long time. Enough so,
to start two threads about it. 1:51 left in the game and down by seven, they just quit. Obviously Lebron is no Reggie Miller (7 points in 18 seconds).

6. I said it last night when he started his press conference...
Unless he goes all Dennis Green ("they are who we thought they were") on his own team, he'll get the blame and be gone.

7. UPDATE! Cavs owner refutes rumors; Brown still coach
espn.com

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers are keeping coach Mike Brown -- for now.

Team owner Dan Gilbert refuted an SI.com report Friday that Brown had been fired.

"That's not true," he said during a news conference. "We are right now just going through the evaluation process."

He said the team expects to have answers in the next week to 10 days.
