Giants finally beat San Diego!!
Maybe it was the talisman in the dugout, or maybe the Giants simply got fed up with being doormats. Either way, for a change, they left this city elated and not deflated.

The Giants beat the Padres for the first time in eight tries this season Tuesday night, and even then the 7-6 victory took 12 innings.

After Andres Torres tied the game 4-4 with a two-run homer in the eighth against reliever Mike Adams, Matt Downs delivered a two-run double in the 12th against Cesar Ramos, Downs' third hit of the game, all coming from the ninth inning on.

Giants are now 22-16

Against the Padres: 1-7

Against everyone else: 21-9

1. Barely, too
I turned the game off after the Giants scored in the top of twelfth. No way I would have thought Wilson could have blown it -- but it sounds like he nearly did.

Still, it's great to salvage one game. These teams don't meet again until August. By then I hope the Giants can pick-up another bat. Maybe we'll see Posey too. Who knows...

2. Did you see how Kuiper
put a picture of Kirk Rueter in the dugout to break the Padre curse? Well it worked, and on the post game wrap they were giving Woody full credit..

Btw, Wilson is driving me crazy.

3. Wilson and Romo both
I know the Giants have holes in the line-up, and the lack of hits with RISP is maddening, but they're still really fun to watch. There's a magic here that reminds of the 1994 Cleveland team, the year before they went to the World Series. San Francisco is sooooo close.

4. And then they lost to 13-1 to the worst team in the division.
Those nutty Ginats!

5. That happens occasionally when the fifth starter pitches
Ironically, that loss could make the Giants stronger if it leads to the promotion of top pitching prospect Madison Bumgarner from Triple A. Bumgarner, 3W-0L, has a 1.54 ERA over 35 innings.
