The NFL should schedule a Super Bowl in Cleveland |
|
What a great shot-in-the-arm to my beleaguered and former hometown to host a Super Bowl.
Detroit/Pontiac has hosted it. They're a rust-belt city.
And now that New Jersey is getting one there's a precedent for risking really crappy weather. That's abundant in Cleveland. Especially in February.
New stadium, relatively speaking. Luxury boxes. Large capacity.
Yep. The NFL should look toward Cleveland.
:headbang:
But they don't have the balls.

1. That's a great idea, because that way... |
|
...you know one team won't have a home field advantage!
Sorry, couldn't resist. :hi:

3. I think they should schedule the Super Bowl for Fayetteville, Arkansas |
|
You can't get more football than that, can you?

7. Nor do they have the hotel space. |
|
You know, unless the personnel, families, etc. will all be bunking in Tremont, Streetsboro and Westlake . . . and then just commute into Cleveland when the event happens.

Who had the thought decades ago to rent cruise ships and anchor them in Lake Erie to provide rooms for a similar event (might have been a political convention)?
Wait -- that wouldn't work -- the lake freezes in winter.

9. ALL the NFL venues should be eligible to host a Super Bowl |
|
Edited on Thu May-27-10 09:24 AM by rocktivity
and I hope the Giants Stadium game is the first step in that direction.
The NFL doesn't give a damn about the fans getting too wet or too cold at games during the regular season. Why make an exception for the Super Bowl--just so they can make a few extra bucks?

You have the lakes, so it could be a mess.

14. Why no SB at Qwest Field in Seattle? |
|
Here’s a look at the past five Super Bowl dates and the weather in Seattle on those days:
Feb. 4, 2010
Seattle: 57 degrees, light rain.
Feb. 1, 2009
Seattle: 44 degrees, no rain.
Feb. 3, 2008
Seattle: 39 degrees, no rain.
Feb. 4, 2007
Seattle: 51 degrees, light rain.
Feb. 5, 2006
Seattle: 47 degrees, no rain.
Not perfect, but it's a heck of a lot better than NYC.

17. The Superbowl should be on a direct rotation of all the teams. That way all the cities |
|
get to benefit from the revenues and, in the case of Cleveland, it will be the only time they ever get to "go" to a Superbowl. (ex-Browns fan here)
