At this point, College football just break into an Eastern and a Western Conference |
|
Eastern Conference is SEC, Big 14(10), whatever remains of ACC and Big East
Western Conference is new Pac 30 and Mountain West
Top 8 teams from each conference go to playoffs.

1. 4 or 5 super-conferences, charlie. |
|
Looks like that's where were headed. The thing is. If there's four, the conference championship will be like the quarterfinals of a playoff system. The big four survivors in the two big bowls. Then maybe a plus one scenario.

10. That;s pretty close to what this guy |
|
at the Native New Yorker (restaurant) said today. He sees 4 super conferences with a quarterfinal playoff system.

5. the super conferences all of a sudden came into being |
|
Sportscenter is saying that Nebraska and possibly Missouri is joining the Big 10 with nearly the entire rest of the Big 12 going into the Pac-10. Who knows what the SEC will do, but I can see them swallowing up most of the ACC with perhaps the rest going into the Big 10. Or hell, perhaps another super conference forms with all the East Coast teams.

6. It's all a moot point if ND or Pitt joins the Big 10. They are all just posturing |
|
and making talk. Only one team will join the big ten despite the protestations of a certain denizen of the sports lounge!
The Big 12 and PAC 10 will remain the same.

It's a slap in the face to dear old ND. And it's pretty ironic that ol' joey refuses to get into these threads because of the utter embarrassment he must feel about his greedy alma mater. But I digress. This is Delaney telling the Irish to shove it up their fucking ass. "Yeah, we'll join. If we don't have to share the $$$ with 14 or 16 teams". Well, it backfired, Jack. I hope you're hung out to dry. Besides. Your football team hasn't been relevant for a generation, now.

What are you going to say with the Big 10 adds more teams? You've been pretty much denying anything that's going to happen and next thing that happens is Nebraska joins. Condem was right all along regarding them so I'd pay attention if I were you. :)

He's been proven wrong on so many issues with me that I get tired of tinkering with him. I just like to keep it going for the sheer entertaimment.

18. Dude. You try and prove me wrong with the "blog o the week"?? |
|
I'm glad to see that you have been sucked into the vortex of the bloggers from the school d'jour that fits into your train of thought.
What's funny, is I do the same thing to see if you are still around, and see what kind of reaction I get from you!!

I have not been saying the Big 10 will not add more team(s). What I have said is that Pitt would be a natural fit, and ND would be a financial fit. Based on that, I should be making condem happy, especially with the "financial" fit thingie.
Do I think they would go to 14 or 16 teams, no. The goal for the Big 10 is to add ONE team so they can have a conference championship game, which if you add ND's television contract will far exceed anything the Nebraska, Missouri, Syracuse, Maryland or whatever the school of the week is for condem.
Just sayin.

14. Syracuse, Rutgers, and ND are a big loss to Big East basketball |
|
Particularly Syracuse which is a traditional Big East school. The Big East over expanded and lost other traditional Big East schools in the meantime. This might be the consequence of over expansion.

15. That's not what they just reported on my local news - Nebraska is going to the Big 10. |
|
And Texas & OU are headed to the Pac 10, along with four other practice programs. They are reporting it as a done deal.

16. Thanks for bringing me up to speed earlier - my friend in California, a USC alum, is absolutely |
|
giddy about all this - claims it will make the Pac 10 (16?) a powerhouse to rival the SEC, etc. Not sure if I agree, but it's an interesting development for sure.

13. There's 120 FBS schools |
|
Far too many to split into two. Also, people liked the old conferences. I'd love to know why the Big 12 has collapsed.
