How long before we see scabs playing for the NHL?
Seems like it's only a matter of time...

3. Won't happen
This is a lockout, not a strike.

4. So the owners can't use scabs?
I know it's not a strike but I thought they could still do this.

5. Not sure
I don't think they can. But I'm not sure.

Even if they could, though, they won't -- their power is in "sitting it out."

6. If there's no agreement in place by next summer
the owners can declare talks at an impasse and set whatever contract limits they want.Any players that want to play will have to like it or lump it.The NHLPA has very little leverage as it is,and the longer they wait the worse shape they'll be in.I'm reminded of the time the baseball umps all turned in resignations than bitched when MLB actually accepted them.DOH!

What's funny is Corey Hirsch said recently he thinks the players that have gone to Europe and taken jobs from those players are no better than scabs.I tend to agree. They whine about the money then go play for little pay over there, taking jobs from people who need them far more than the NHLers do.

8. There are so many minor-pro leagues around
... that the NHL may become irrelevant. That caliber of hockey in minor-pro will probably still suck, but it may be the 'small time alternative' to the NHL if enough 'stars' decide to play at that level for smaller contracts.

I've still got my college hockey, so I'm a happy camper. :)

Just talking out my arse ....
