Eli Manning Demands Trade To San Diego Chargers!

NEW YORK--Fresh off a 31-7 drubbing at the hands of the lowly Washington Redskins, Giants quarterback Eli Manning has demanded a trade to the San Diego Chargers. The demand was issued through his agent, Tom Condon, who said that Manning would rather play for a contender than a team in disarray like the Giants. Condon expressed confidence that a deal could be worked out.

Some critics have pointed out the fact that Manning spurned the Chargers during the 2004 draft and demanded to be sent to the Giants. The irony of the situation is not lost on Archie, who tried to explain the family’s sudden change of heart.

“I know what people are saying about my family. They’re talking about how we had our chance to go to San Diego last year but refused,” he said. “That’s not fair, really. The Giants looked like the better club to us and to everybody we talked to. Even Phillip Rivers didn’t want to play for the Chargers. Lucky for him, he got his wish.”

2. Awww... he's just afraid of having to face the Stillers on Saturday...
... and being shown up by the first round quarterback everyone else took a pass on!

BTW -- LOVE your "Steeler Nation" graphic. I can't remember the last time I was so pumped up about my Stillers as I am this year. Then again, I came of age during the lean 1980's of Cliff Stoudt and Mark Malone....

3. I gotta chime in
In five years, Eli will be the heir apparent to his brother's throne as the King of NFL quarterbacks. In five years Rothlisberger will be an answer to a trivia question on Sportscenter. The view from an Eagle Fan.

6. Actually, a well thought out
view of the current year in the NFL and a look back at the careers of aforementioned QB's and the teams they currently work for.

10. What?
How can that be? Big Ben has one 10 consecutive starts as a rookie and the Steelers are the number one team in the league. The way its looking at the moment we're gonna smash the giants on saturday bringing our record to 13/1 and theirs to 9/4.

11. The smashing will have nothing to do with
who is quarterbacking either team. If the Giants lose I believe their record will be 4 and 9. Who won X amount of games as a rookie quarterback in 2004? Sounds like a trivia question.

23. Yeah, but Eli hasn't won ANY! The Giants won when Warner was QB
0-for about 5 now with Eli.

25. Also, Eli never won a national championchip at
Ole Misses, Peyton on the other had did win a national championchip with UT. Eli is not half the QB that Peyton is nor will he ever be. Just because his last name is manning doesn't make him a football god.

26. Yeah, I don't understand why Eli went #1 in the draft--I don't even think
he was a first round pick--you're right, it must be the name.

I'm a Giants fan, but I feel bad for Eli. He was thrown to the wolves! If you're going to put a rookie in, there better be a strong, support system around him. (The Steelers have their act together and rookie Ben Rothlisberger has flourished!)

The Giants have a new coach, a lot of starters are out because of injury and the team hasn't been able to pull it together. At least with Kurt Warner, there was an experienced guy at the helm who knew how to make adjustments. He wasn't playing brilliantly, but he kept the Giants in playoff contention. Manning killed all hopes of that. :-(

13. as I recall, the Giants could have taken Rothlisberger . . .
but they went for the name and the pedigree instead . . . think they're regretting that move? . . .

17. With the problems the Giants had this year ...
I think Rothlisberger would have been getting his ass kicked, too. No quarterback is going to complete passes when there's no protection and the receivers can't get open. All the penalties and dropped passes don't help, either. :(

14. Coughlin is an idiot!
You don't send your future franchise QB into a meatgrinder at the tail end of a losing season just to give him "experience"!
Look at Carson Palmer - they waited and now he's looking pretty good.

They're going to turn Eli into Tim Couch II.
By the time he gets a decent team built up around him he's going to be a wreck.

16. I totally agree ...
Coughlin f*cked up big time! Manning should have remained on the sidelines, watching and learning from Warner. They could have gotten a wild card spot with Warner and if they didn't, at least their franchise guy wouldn't have been getting his ass kicked and his confidence shattered. :(

Coughlin was expecting a miracle - he thought that all of a sudden, the weak spots and the injuries wouldn't matter because the crappy team would magically come together when Manning took the field. :eyes:

21. Manning's a crybaby. Troy Aikman played his 1-15 rookie season
got his ass handed to him and only has three Super Bowls wins to show for it. Next stop is Canton, Ohio.

24. No need to feel bad For Eli...
He's going after the young stuff?

ELI MANNING, Giants
The emotionless rookie has been downright awful in 2004, but perhaps it's because he's been quietly living it up on the New York party scene. A national magazine made the claim that on Dec. 6 (just one day after a miserable showing by Manning in a 31-7 loss to the equally woeful Redskins) the rook showed up at NYC lounge Butter.

Having attended the Monday night event on more than one occasion, I can tell you that the draw is mostly models and the Olsen twins. On this night, the 23-year-old Manning supposedly swapped phone numbers with 18-year-old actress Lindsay Lohan. If even a morsel of this is true, then although the rookie has left much to be desired on the field, at least he's showing promise off it.

15. BINGO!
I've never liked his brother so therefore I automatically didn't like him. (I know how that sounds :D )I am just sick of the hero worship given to Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. I came up with a drinking game -- watch any MNF game and every time Madden and Michaels say Manning or Favre, you drink.

with that game! Which I suppose is the point! LOL

I swear the man-love that Madden and Michaels have for P. Manning and Favre is enough to make me projectile yak.

19. This Michigan fan...
...is still basking in the glow of Charles Woodson winning the 1997 Heisman right out from under Peyton Manning and all the whining in Tennessee afterward. My favorite line: "But, but...that's why Peyton came back for his senior year!" as though that 'selfless' gesture should automatically guarantee him the Heisman. HA!

22. I also have a tendency to think...
...that Peyton's pretty arrogant. If he throws an interception, he's got an expression on his face like it's not his fault - someone else fucked up.

However, I heard last night on SportsCenter that he said if/when he breaks the record, he doesn't want any on-field celebrations or any ceremonies afterwards or anything. I was pretty impressed by that.

I think Roethlisberger is for real. He's got the presence and poise to be a great quarterback, you can just tell. But, he does have a pretty good supporting cast all around.

If you watched that Lions/Packers game you would of puked. I had to mute it in the 4th quarter - heard enough Favre stories.
