The Red Sox really don't want Johnny Damon back, do they?

Yes, it looks like the Boston Red Sox have requested one more fling with old flame Johnny Damon, reportedly claiming him on waivers from the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon.

But if you're expecting a storybook finish as the ol' Idiot replenishes Fenway's outfield in one last push for the playoffs, you'll probably be left wanting.

Damon can block any trade to Boston and has told Fanhouse's Ed Price that he isn't inclined to return to Beantown after all those old "looks like Jesus, acts like Judas" sayings when he left for the New York Yankees in 2006.

So much for happy endings.
