2. I can't see the Saints repeating, Colts doing as well, Vikings are through, |
|
dallas, no way, probably not SF, either. The other four have a chance, though.

4. provided they don't lay an egg, they should make the playoffs |
|
They have a great shot at winning their division. Once they're in the post-season, anything can happen.

7. Even making a short list like that is an accomplishment |
|
they've gone from cover-your-eyes bad to muddled mediocre to dark-horse SB contender in quite a shoert time.

10. Why I think the Saints (Yes I am a Saints fan but that isn't why) |
|
The Saints return 20 of 22 starters, have made some improvement to their defense with stronger back ups. The Saints played half a season without their starting defensive backfield and still finished with the best record in the NFC and Super Bowl. The Saints will have a tough time but this team is well loaded with talent.

|
Didn't vote BTW.
Don't laugh at the suggestions though. I'm sure if you picked the Bengals to make the playoffs last year, you would be laughed out of the forum. Meanwhile, most people here picked Chicago of all teams to go to the Super Bowl last year.

15. You weren't the only one |
|
In the few weeks leading up to the playoffs, Bob Costas and Mike Greenberg said that the 2008 Cardinals were the "worst team in history to make the playoffs." First of all they weren't the worst team in franchise history to make the playoffs. The '98 Cardinals also went 9-7, scored fewer points, and won several games by 7 points or less meanwhile the '08 version and a few blowout victories. I laugh now when I watched experts week after week pick against them and give inaccurate analysis. I recall watching First and 10 the week before the Cardinals and Panthers game, Skip Bayless was debating Lil' Wayne and Wayne had the nerve to pick the Cardinals against Carolina. Skip started laughing hysterically and asked, "You want to take that pick back?" "Are you sure?". Lil' Wayne pointed that Warner's and Fitzgerald's numbers are better than Delhomme's and Smith's numbers. I was yelling to myself, "Yeah!", he saw what was so obvious to me. They had very efficient passing game and the Cardinals started running the ball (and more often) with Edgerrin James in the playoffs who did quite well except against the Steelers. However, the Steelers didn't run the ball great against the Cardinals either. Yes their pass defense struggled late in the season which many chock up to the fact they clinched their division early(which they did). But what experts never pointed out and people didn't know except in the local media is Ken Whisenhut, after the New England game, went into training camp mode. He had players practice in full pads w/ tackling. He kept stressing over and over how important is to do well in the playoffs, not just make it. All the "experts" neglected that one fact which is the main reason the went to the Super Bowl after falling apart towards the end of the season.
They never really got respect after all that either. Most "experts" were picking the 49ers to win the division before LAST SEASON and the Cards to miss the playoffs.

The Seattle Seahawks, I predict an 11-5 record, and they coast through the playoffs, and dominate in the SB.

get even closer to being the only team never to have gone to a Superbowl.

I'd love to see the Pats do it, but I think their Defense is too inexperienced to go that far.
Also, I'll say it now, no team from NY (NJ) will make the playoffs.
