Usain Bolt: Tyson Gay hates me
LONDON -- Olympic champion Usain Bolt said American sprint rival Tyson Gay "probably just hates my guts" because he has dominated major championships.

Bolt won both the 100 and 200-meter titles at the 2008 Olympics in world-record times, and helped Jamaica win gold and set another world record in the 4x100-meter relay.

A year later, he again set world records in the 100 and 200 at the world championships in Berlin.

"I think Tyson sits at home and cusses me," Bolt told BBC radio Wednesday. "He just really gets upset because every time he runs fast, I run faster than he does. At the world championship he ran 9.71 and that's the fastest a U.S. athlete has ever run and he was still cussing. So deep down I think he probably just hates my guts."

1. I don't get that impression at all
When Gay trounced Bolt in a Diamond League race a month or so ago he could not have been more humble, going out of his way to diminish the win and emphasize that Bolt obviously wasn't in top shape. The commentators were stunned, saying it was opposite of every typical tendency from a sprinter after conquering a major rival.

Actually, I think Bolt is a bit worried about Gay right now and is trying to talk himself into a certainty that he'll again emerge faster than Gay next year and in 2012. It's not an absolute cinch. Gay can get into the 9.6s.

2. Yesterday:Tyson pulls away to a meet record
9.92 in Zagreb. Nesta Carter, who shares the season best with Gay at 9.78, was second in 10.07. Bolt is too big a star now to get the hunger back. what a whiney boy.

5. I think Tyson is just jealous of Usain's chemists
Yes, I said it. I believe Usain bolt is on PED. But Tyson probably is too.

6. Any proof or is it your gut telling you this?
Unfounded accusations sometimes have ruined people. If you are from Lexington and your black you have to be fast. Tyson does not have the press up his ass like the movie star Bolt. We will find out next year if Bolt starts training.

7. It's a gut feeling, but based on following the sport for 45 years.
World records in the sprints used to inch down by 1/100s of a second. Before the advent of electronic timing, records would go down by 1/10 second, but it would typically take many years between records. For the WR to drop by 2/10 of a second since Bolt came onto the world scene does not jive with history. Combine Bolt's outstanding performances with Jamaica going 1-2-3 in the women's 100 meters makes me think that there is something besides ganga happening there. It reminded me of 1993 when the Chinese women set a bunch of world records in the distance events. Those women were never proven to be on PED, and the records still officially stand, but nobody believes they were clean.

I always feel skeptical whenever someone breaks a record by a huge amount. And that's true whether its a dramatic world record in track, someone hitting 75 home runs in a year, or a cyclist winning the Tour de France seven straight times. Hell, I also guess that a certain 40 year old quarterback is doing something under the table to aid his recovery. I have no proof, of course. Athletes and their chemists will always be a step ahead of the testers.
