***College Football Pool: Week 2***
An incredible weekend. 2 pushes and four or five games within 2 points of the spread. Which means we were all mediocre, right?? Wrong 'em, boyo.
If my math is correct, we got ourselves a ringer. Awesome job. Standings to follow. Now, for Week 2. Some serious standout games. But it was tough finding 12 of them. Another Thursday night tilt, so get them in before kickoff. Damn. Ain't this fun!?!?

Thursday, September 9
Auburn -2.5 @ Mississippi State

Saturday, September 11
Georgia Tech -12.5 @ Kansas
Georgia +2 @ South Carolina
Florida State +8.5 @ Oklahoma
Iowa State +13.5 @ Iowa
Michigan +4.5 @ Notre Dame
Miami(Fla)+9.5 @ Ohio State
BYU pick 'em @ Air Force

12. Ringer from Kentucky! Thank-you! Finally getting
football respect. Since I'm typing let me get these early season fuck-you(s) out of the way. Fuck Tenn, nothing sucks like a big orange. , Fuck Florida, stick that gator chop shit., Fuck South Carolina, and the ol' ball sack coach ( my kind of prick though)., And assorted FU's to the rest of the SEC but a special FU to Kentucky's schedule ; WKU, Akron, & Charleston Southern , Southern??? Who the hell is that? I guess we do play in the toughest division in the toughest conference in any sport , but Charl Southern. No respect there. New week coming, I just got home from work and will pick later. Happyiowan, don't worry I haven't won anything in my life but I'm still trying.

28. Kentucky?!
I have to tell you how happy I am you don't seem to hate Georgia as much as some of the other SEC teams. I think I hate Tennessee more than all the rest of them, too! I remember in the good old days when Spurrier was at Florida and he always said, "You can't spell Citrus (as in the chump bowl game) without UT." 9-1 is an impressive start. You've got my attention!

35. The first game I ever went to was Vince Dooley's first game
as the Bulldogs Coach. Augusta boy then. Spurrier was killer funny and an asshole. I was at KY's last win over the orange... in 1984,in Knoxville, Damn we got to beat them this year. It looks like everybody else will.

14. And away we go
Auburn
Ga. Tech
Georgia
Florida St. points people.
Iowa State. The Hawks should win the game but 13.5 pts. is a lot in a rivalry game.
Notre Dame. Still not convinced either team is good.
Ohio State. They may trounce Miami just to prove a point.
BYU
Penn. St. Once again, points.
Tennessee. See above
UCLA

19. Simple, lazarus.
Sort of like added weight in horse racing. Take the FSU-Oklahoma game. Whatever FSU finishes with, add 8.5 points to it. Say the final score is 24-17. Add that 8.5 back and FSU "wins" 25.5-24. So if you think that FSU will come within 8.5 points of the Sooners, take FSU. If you think Oklahoma will 'cover' that margin, or win by more than the spread, take OU. Got it?

25. "I'll take the points"....
...could mean this: With Mark Ingram out of the Alabama-PSU game, a Nittany Lion fan may say "I'll take those 11 points all day long". Now Auggie and I do our spreads a little different. He capitalizes the home team. I always list the home team last. Hence, the plusses and minuses.

26. Your threads are always confusing to me
with the + and - thing. I can never tell who the favorite is but I can usually make a good guess on who the favorite is based on how good the team is (imo) and who they are playing. For example (I think) you have Iowa as favorites over Iowa State simply because Iowa was 11-2 last year and seem to be an overall more talented team. Plus there is no way in hell anyone would make Iowa State an 13.5 favorite. :)

30. That's because my spreads come from the Cayman Islands. Not Vegas. They know more offshore!!
A perfect example is the Auburn-Mississippi State game tomorrow night, Jon. It's being played in Starkville. Yet, Auburn is the favorite. So you have to subtract 2.5 from Auburn. What's a home advantage worth? 4 to 5 points? Maybe a TD? Says to me, supposedly Auburn is a tough team to be favored on the road.
