Pat Burrell hits the "W"....
Edited on Fri Sep-10-10 08:30 AM by Upton
The Giants hit four HRs last night at Petco in their 7-3 win over the Padres, but it's Burrell's shot that has people talking. He hit the "W" on the Western Metal Supply Co. building and has to be one of the longest HRs ever hit there..

1. Wow
That is high up there.

I hope this series ends up in the Rockies favor somehow. I never know who to root for in these kind of series.

3. If I were you
I'd be either rooting for a split or for the Giants to take three out of four. Currently, the Padres have two less losses than the Giants and four less than the Rockies. You guys have three at home against the D-Backs starting tonight. It's a great chance to make up ground on somebody every day..

2. Nice. I liked him when he was with the Phillies
Glad to see him do so well with the Giants (he's also one cute ballplayer...:))

4. Burrell has been fantastic for the Giants..
not just on the field, but in the clubhouse as well..where he's become one of the team leaders. I don't know where they would be without him. His power and clutch hitting has changed the whole dynamic of the Giants lineup..

And to think the Giants signed him to a minor league contract back in May for virtually nothing. Some people even scoffed. They're not scoffing anymore.

5. Giants seem to be doing well with pickups from other teams
Ex-Oriole Aubrey Huff is another good addition to the Giants as well.

7. Huff played two years with Burrell
at the University of Miami. They were already friends and Aubrey was key in getting Burrell to sign with the Giants. Plus he's having a big year of his own..Aubrey leads the team in BA, HR, and RBIs. IMO, he's been unquestionably the Giants MVP.

Both Huff and Burrell say they want to come back again next year....I'm hoping it works out just that way.

6. Go Giants!
I have mlb.tv so I can catch every game, but I got distracted and missed Burrell's homer, but I was going to watch that inning over again today.

I predict the Giants will sweep the Padres.

8. I don't know about that..

I'd like a sweep, but 4 game sweeps on the road are rather rare. The Giants now have 6 games left with the Padres this year, winning 4 should be sufficient as long as they take care of business elsewhere.

Burrell's HR:

9. Sabean has done a great job building a contender
without trading away top pitching talent.
