they won't be going anywhere -- other than to the couch for a nap.

3. Nebraska's redshirt freshman QB now 7th nationally for rushing yards
BIG 12 HEISMAN UPDATE

Nebraska Freshman quarterback Taylor MartineZ (aka 'T-Magic') is seventh nationally in rushing yards, with 284 yards and 5 touchdowns to his credit. The kid can also throw...

Taylor Martinez, QB, Nebraska. He has to do more than outrun inferior competition to get any kind of legitimate mention, but if he keeps running like he has been when conference play hits, look out. If Nebraska runs the table, and he's sitting in November with 1,400 yards rushing and proves himself as a competent passer? It's not impossible. We've got no idea if he can do what he's been doing when he starts facing Big 12 defenses...but what if he can? Shawn Watson says the Blackshirts were having a tough time handling him.

6. They say Jake Locker will go in the 1st round of the NFL draft next year...
He's hot stuff, fer sure. Since Saturday's game is going to be televised on ABC we'll all get to enjoy watching him play against Nebraska's vaunted defense...

Martinez is only a freshman. He's got a several more years to step up...

7. Poise amidst the noise
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 06:13 AM by SpiralHawk

Husky stadium is famous (infamous?) for being excruciatingly loud.

Nebraska's secret strategery for Saturday: plugging their ears with corn cobs.

8. 25,000 Nebraska fans make journey to Washington
Edited on Sat Sep-18-10 07:12 AM by SpiralHawk
Heard that on the radio this morning...Wow - the Big Red rowdies should help balance the noise quotient somewhat.

That's an amazing base of fan support, to travel so far for a game this early in the season...

Either Nebraska is real good or UW is real bad. I suppose the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I don't know if I've ever seen Jake Locker look that bad. He's always had a problem with accuracy in his passing, but against the Huskers he looked he like he'd never thrown a football before.

Huskies don't play defense either....and they were just getting pushed around. If the first three games are any indication, the whole team has taken a step backwards under Sarkisian this year. Maybe Nebraska is just that good too.

12. I'm glad you asked that question
Edited on Sat Sep-18-10 08:46 PM by SpiralHawk
Because I may get around to answering after I finish savoring today's sweet, strong win. The Huskers got game. They need more polish, but they are out to make a statement this season, and after they stuffed Jake and his teamates in the Locker, it's looking like they will...
