"Probably just how the Boss wanted. It was probably his idea." — Yankees star shortstop Derek Jeter, in the New York Times, commenting about the monument to the late owner George Steinbrenner.

The monument, measuring 7 feet across and 5 feet high across its bronze face and weighing 760 pounds, was unveiled Monday night in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium. It dwarfs monuments to Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and manager Miller Huggins. Their monuments are a relatively humble 2 feet by 3 feet.
