Besides the inexplicable Cowpies win over Houston, what was the most suprising of yesterday's games? |
|
I guess I'll go with Tenn/Giants...I thought the Giants were going to be good this year. Not looking like it.

1. The Chiefs destroying the 49'ers. |
|
Even though it was at home in Arrowhead (one of the best stadiums in the NFL to see a game) it was STILL quite a leap from where they have been for the past 5 or 6 seasons.
If they can duplicate this on the road? Watch out.

3. Well, it WAS the 49-ers! |
|
Series-ly, they look a lot better than anyone in their division right now.

That is a big shocker to me.
Matt Cassell looks good right now. I don't know how much longer it will last, though.
Another shocker to me - Brett Favre won despite himself. If he was playing another team, that would have been a bloodbath.

it's early, yeah, but no one in their division seems to be any good.

6. OK, I'm a VIkes fan, but that wasn't on Brett. |
|
Well, not completely. He clearly needs to take this week off to work with his receivers so they know what to expect from each other. There were far too many blown routes.
But that O-Line was pathetic. I am scared of the Lions next year. That defensive unit is impressive. But still, Favre got hit WAY too many times and they had way too many holding and movement infractions for an O-Line of that caliber.

8. You Need To Stop Worrying About The "Cowpies" |
|
And start worrying about your defense that is giving up 27 points a game. :)

10. Saints losing to Falcons |
|
A team of that caliber losing at home is markedly more unlikely than a mediocrity like San Francisco losing anywhere. New Orleans should have had a boost coming off the west coast last second victory, even with Bush out and playing a division rival with some skill.
Besides, as I posted in the another thread, the 49ers were in a dreaded scheduling situation yesterday, a road non-division game and coming off a Monday Night game hosting the defending Super Bowl champions. That road non-division after Monday Night angle produces one flat effort after another. I've mentioned it many times on this forum and elsewhere. It used to be a gimme when a grass team played on hard artificial turf. They couldn't cope at all in the first half.
The NFL should be held in trillion dollar contempt for getting rid of glorious artificial turf and all the simple wagering opportunities it produced. Field turf should be incinerated.
