Tour de France champion Alberto Contador has tested positive to a banned substance in news that will send shockwaves through the cycling world.

Contador - who has won three Tour de France championships – tested positive on July 21 this year with the analysis revealing traces of the banned clenbuterol.

Contador has blamed food contamination for his positive test result.

6. He's from Spain, right? Read where in I think 2006 a doctor's office was raided

and found equipose (sp?) and name after name of Spanish cyclists and tennis players (yeah, Nadal's the next to be found out) but not much has come out because the whole mess is tied up in the courts, and I'm sure Spain is not gonna be quick to name names...this could be the tip of the iceberg.

I just think we're dealing with doping on a wdiespread level in prettymuch every sport these days.

it sucks for riders who compete and don't dope. as soon as my husband told me what he was allegedly using, my reaction was "that's a broncho-dilator." (i'm an asthmatic) it's obvious why one would need a broncho-dilator in the mountains.
funnily enough, my doctor will NOT prescribe me certain drugs as soon as i get my cycling license next year. her thought is she doesn't care if i'm competing locally or not, drug bans are drug bans. and i'll probably be competing for my university, so then what i put in my body will be a factor, just like any collegiate football player.

you often hear about athletes who are taking certain meds legitiamtely because of some ailment, but then they have to go through the hassle of proving that, and once the allegation is made,his/her name is never really cleared.
