Yankees win 1st game, 6-5, with a 5-run 8th inning.

and they are unapologetic and defensive about their divine right to try to buy the world series.

they are the wall street of baseball and its sad to see so called "liberals" rooting for them.

13. They built the sport by winning and they are still winning
That's not ruining a sport.

14. They win
for the same reason the rich stay rich,

because they use their unfair advantages to prop themselves up and suppress the ability of the disadvantaged to rise up.

not only do they do this, they defend their "right" to do so and oppose measures to impose competitive balance such as a salary cap. They opposed the first year player draft (eventually, however, they were pushed into voting for it) back in 1965--an institution meant to facilitate access to talent to teams other than those able to simply throw big money at good young players. Before 1965 and the imposition of that mechanism of basic fairness, the Yankees won 20 of their 27 world series championships. Definitely an interesting fact.

In 1996, when truant fan Jeff Maier interfered with a fair ball in play, the Yankees, rather than ejecting him from the stadium as they should have, treated him as a hero and gave him prime playoff tickets for the remaining games. All that for breaking the rules--as long as it helps the Yankees.

this is the sick philosophy of "winning is everything" (and the only thing) that I find repugnant. it's the same philosophy that led to massive steroid use in sports. Its the same philosophy that leads to business interests preying on vulnerable consumers every day.

Yes, they are ruining baseball.

That, and Aroid juicing greatly tarnishes their reputation. Winning at all costs, whether buying it or cheating are hollow victories. But baseball fans should just get over it, right? It's the reason why most people hate them, they're not fooling anyone.

19. Old man Bush was at the Giants versus Texans game too
Was so happy when the Giants beat them 34-10. Old Barbara "My Beautiful Mind" Bush was there too.

Didn't know GW was that Yankees game tonite till I saw this. Makes me even happier! He had the same expression his father wore at the Giants game.

Go Yankees!
