Wade obviously has no control over this club.

And who replaces him? Bill Cowher, John Fox, Bill Fossil. Add any others you might think would.

1. I've heard Cowher favors going to Carolina

How about Pete Carmichael, offensive coordinator of the Saints?

From the Saints website:

Carmichael has worked closely with Brees since both arrived in New Orleans in 2006, and since then the majority of the franchise’s career, single-game and single-season passing records have fallen. Brees has led the NFL in passing yardage twice, set NFL records for completions (440-2007) and completion percentage (70.6-2009) and has thrown for a club record 122 touchdowns over the last four seasons.

Carmichael brings the perspective of having a wide range of coaching experiences, including working with nearly every position group on offense during his career. With the Chargers, he assisted wide receivers coach James Lofton for an offense that ranked 10th in the NFL in 2004 and 2005. Carmichael joined the Chargers in 2002 and served as offensive assistant/quality control until being promoted.

3. Well, I think Cowher is headed to Carolina and John Fox is headed
to Dallas.

Oh wait. What is Parcells doing?

If he promises to be more careful with his luggage.

8. Barry did win a Super Bowl, unlike Wade Phillips.

2. Hopefully never.
However, it is unrealistic to believe that he won't fire Wade at the end of the year if things continue to go as splendidly as they've been so far. Garrett is supposed to be the heir apparent after having been groomed for the position over the past few years but at this point I would be shocked if they go with him. Jones will most likely clean house and bring in a proven veteran like Gruden or one of the aforementioned candidates. Or he could go with the new wave of younger coordinators as a few other teams have lately. The one thing that is certain is that Phillips is toast unless a miracle happens and they advance to the Super Bowl.

7. Thanks for your commentary, Tebow. I'm surprised that you could find
something more than 6,000 years old.

9. Phillips should be replaced with Jerry Jones
That way, Jones will have no one to blame but himself when the Cowboys lose all of their remaining games. Then Jones will have to fire himself. If he doesn't like that idea, he can disband the Cowboys. That's an even better one.

10. I'd say Mike Holmgren, but that won't happen
Holmgren would want more control than Jones would be willing to give up.

13. One name I have heard mentioned and hope it won't be
Is Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints. Payton came from the Cowboys to the Saints, has a great relationship with the Organization on all levels. In his book Home Team Payton tells of talking to Jones about going to New Orleans and in the account it shows how much respect there is between them. I understand Payton has a 5 year contract he is currently under, and he is a beloved person in N.O. and Saints fans. I hope he isn't the pick but could be.

15. Phillips is gone before the end of the season,
regardless of what Jones said, and Garrett becomes interim coach. If it looks like the Cowboys are starting to get their shit together, they keep him, otherwise Jones goes after someone that everyone's heard of, everyone "respects" but isn't a top name like Cowher, Holmgren or Gruden. Those guys saw how it worked out when Parcells was there and they don't want to or have to go through that shit. He'll find someone like, well, Wade Phillips. The only way the Cowboys will get another top coach will be to offer one an shit-ton of cash, or to make their own (like Garrett).

19. Methinks Jimmy Johnson is having too much fun. . .
to coach again, especially for a meddler like Jerry Jones.

Besides, he has nothing left to prove in football. Been there, done that, won 2 Super Bowls.
