NLCS Game 5: Phillies 4, Giants 2
Edited on Fri Oct-22-10 10:08 AM by Auggie
Two errors in the third inning did in in the Giants, coupled with a 4th inning base running blunder at third base by Cody Ross. Phillies manager Charlie Manual revealed after the game that starter Halladay suffered a groin pull in the second inning but still managed to pitch through six innings.

1. Sandoval couldn't find third base?

I bet he would have if this was on it:

4. One would expect a third year player to play better defense...

Sandoval is a crowd favorite but I wouldn't mind seeing him traded

3. he didn't run because he saw that the ball actually was foul
The ump, catcher, and the Philly baserunners all thought it was fair

8. Even Upton can be wrong occasionally..
the difference between him and some others around here is that he admits it..

7. You know, one could make a very good case
that if Sandoval had not failed to step on third, the Giants would still be celebrating the winning of the NL pennant. He makes the play, with Halladay not even running, it becomes two out with a runner on second. The error Huff then makes doesn't happen because he would no longer have been worried about coming home, and Lincecum gets out of the third unscathed.

The Giants need a REAL third baseman. One who can hit AND field. The kind that many even average teams have. I realize Panda had a big double in game 4, but why should we have to take the bad with the good? He's never going to get his weight under control and we don't have the DH in the NL. I think it's time for Pablo to go.
