**************College Football: Week 14**************
Edited on Tue Nov-30-10 08:41 PM by Condem
Championship Week. This is it. Just want to start off by thanking everyone for hanging in there. For the most part, a very tight group. Next Tuesday, we'll have the second part of the season - The Bowl Extravaganza. Every Bowl Game. Open to everyone. Once again, kudos to Fish. 10-2. The only way he loses this thing is if he goes 0 for and enuegii rolls a perfect frame. Stranger things have happened. But, as a betting man..nevermind. Well done, all! Time to strive for individual glory. OK. This week was tough to fill 12 games, so I threw in the MAC Final and what pretty much amounts to the Big Least final. For Brendan. By the way, what a good pick-up in TCU. Makes sense to me, both geographically and athletically. I think the Big East has elevated themselves from 9th best conference up to, probably, 8th. Excellent! Without further ado, the final weekend's slate. Get 'em in Thursday before kick. Standings to follow.

Thursday, December 2
Arizona State +6.5 @ Arizona

Friday, December 3
Northern Illinois -14.5 @ Miami (Ohio)
Illinois -6.5 @ Fresno State

Saturday, December 4

Auburn -5 @ South Carolina (Atlanta)
Washington -8 @ Washington State
Florida State +4.5 2 Virginia Tech (somewhere east)

20. The Pac-10 was trying to avoid truly neutral locations like the ACC
in their negotiations. The reason was, was the poor attendance because the title site would be in a location that was far to travel too for both schools. Next year, the Pac-12 title game will be at (or close to?) the team with the best record in the title game.

5. Thanks for thinking of me....
I'm kind of hoping that both West Virginia and Pitt lose their respective games on Saturday afternoon, so UConn doesn't have to try too hard Saturday night. But that ain't gonna happen. C'est la vie.

PICKS:
Arizona
Miami (Ohio)
Illinois
Utah State
Nevada
Oregon State
Auburn
Washington
Virginia Tech
UCONN
Oklahoma
USC
------------------------

By the way - Big East is still the powerhouse of basketball. And ironically, as much of a fan I am of Husky football, I hate UConn basketball and always take great joy in watching them lose. It comes with being a graduate of St. John's and native of the Syracuse area, I guess.

10. Yes, Lavin was a good hire...
the Redmen (I still feel awkward calling them Red Storm, even though it's been 15 years) should be quite competitive in about 2-3 years.

6. Thank you Condem for all of your work this year.
Also, I agree with you that Nebraska will be an incredible addition to America's Premier Athletic and Academic(tm)conference. Notre Dame will soon regret not joining when they had the chance, particularly when NBC gives them the boot.

as to how often Arizona State covers when you list them. It seems like they always do. They rarely win when you list them, but they cover.

Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 07:59 PM by Condem
The BCS usually leaves it with the aura of skepticism. Not tonight. The playoff system has been set back light years. Oregon-Auburn is the MOST anticipated NC in years. And no one has an argument. The Bowls make their $$. We have a great final. Any advocates of a playoff system are fucked.

30. LOL
I'd still like to see TCU have a chance to prove it on the field. Oh well.

Anyways, I haven't seen much of Auburn this year but this Newton is by far the most valuable player I've seen in years. More so to his team than Tebow. I think they will win even though Oregon has a strong defense and running game(even though it is a spread).

wins over Alabama (defending NC), South Carolina(twice), LSU, and Arkansas will be too much for them to ignore. Pretty much the main reason why I think they will be favored.
