Qatar's stadiums in pictures
The Guardian has a very cool gallery of Qatar's proposed stadiums for the 2022 World Cup

As an aside, I like this quote from the Spanish newspaper Marca "If they would rather play in new stadiums that look like spaceships than in the Bernabéu or the Camp Nou, then we have all gone mad. Fifa has committed a mistake, a big, big mistake."

1. Spain wasn't even bidding against Qatar in 2022, were they?
It wasn't like Qatar was picked over Spain. The stadiums do look pretty cool, though.

3. Do you have USA's stadium in photos? Oh, wait, we only have blueprints...
probably a good reason why USA wasn't chosen, that and the fact that it'd be a living hell for athletes and fans to get in and out of this country with our nazi-esque security system.

7. Stadiums with a combined capacity of 600K for a country with a population of 1.7 million
That's about the most stupid fucking thing I've read all year.

So these stadiums host the World Cup in 2022 and they provide endless fascination for archeologists in 3022, but how exactly do they get used in the millenium in between?

10. "When the tournament ends, it plans to donate stadium segments to developing nations"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/02/AR2010120205671.html

Who knows what they'll look like when plonked down where they weren't even designed for. Or how much they'll cost in upkeep.

12. England wasn't going against Qatar.
Further, England was out right away, as it should have been. It was the worst of the 2018 group.

13. You can drink beer in Qatar too
I don't understand why this issue continues to be brought up, when it has been made plain in the media that alcohol will be allowed..
