That's just not fuckin' fair..

Comcast SportsNet Bay Area during the month of Dec. and starting tonight, is replaying 6 of the most important playoff games leading to the Giants historic WS triumph. The attraction here, for me, is the audio is going to be the original call of KNBR Giants broadcasters Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow. Something I couldn't enjoy before because of the delay.

Anyway, I'm sitting here all ready to watch Lincecum's 14 SO performance in game one of the NLDS and after a few seconds the screen goes black and I get informed.."program not available in your area"..I pay for the sports package, I get everything else from CSNBA. There are Giants fans all over they country, you would think they'd get a little bit of consideration.

1. Seriously?
That's typical of the opressive rules concerning "home territory" broadcasts. I feel your pain. I wanted to watch a Dodger game 2 years back when I didn't have the Extra Innings package. It was regional coverage on Fox Saturday game of the week. Apparently, the knuckleheaded programmer thought a game between two midwest teams were more regional to Northern California than an actual California team playing. Maybe he was a jealous Giants fan, I don't know. I also was upset to learn that after I moved out of the Bay Area I was then on in Sacramento Kings territory and no longer in Warrior's territory. Just stupid rules dreamed up by greedy executives of major sports teams.

4. I have MLB EI though..
this blackout seems to only apply to replays. I've checked around and there are people complaining in Oregon and St. Louis about the blackout. Like I mentioned, the attraction is the syncing up of the KNBR audio. You must be on the right track, it's probably because I'm in Seattle Mariners territory. Ah well, maybe they'll put out a DVD complete with the original KNBR broadcast..

2. That sucks.
I'd probably be far more livid than you appear to be.

My condolences.

5. That's what's wierd..
the MLB Network has replayed this year's NLCS and World Series games on several occasions. I've watched them when I can, but they have Buck and McCarver. I want to hear the original Giants radio broadcasters synced up with the video....that's the attraction. It's what makes these CSNBA replays different..and no DVR is going to give me that.

6. Radio announcers are only worth listening to. If you have the video, then
they need to STFU. I can see what is happening.

That being said, McCarver needs to just shut the fuck up, also. Buck has been contaminated by McCarver.

Also, I can't watch re-runs until they are twenty or so years old, at least. Now watching the Dallas Cowboys or the Pittsburgh Pirates from the 70's is interesting. As my wife calls it: "Antique Sports"!!!!

7. Krukow and Kuiper are special
IMO, which is admittedly biased, they are as good as any announcers in the country. I've heard and read that opinion from others not from the Bay Area too. I don't want them to shut up.

Anyway, they do almost all of the Giants TV games during the regular season. Jon Miller and Dave Flemming do the majority of the radio. During the playoffs though, Miller was working for ESPN, and since Buck and McCarver were doing most of the TV, Kruk and Kuip were just on KNBR. I've heard snippets and highlights from their broadcasts, but I was really looking forward to seeing these six crucial games synced up with Giants radio. Guess I'm out of luck.

8. Buck has always sucked. McCarver only makes him suck slightly more.
Story over.

9. They are both terrible..
and Buck is biased against the Giants. As a Cardinals man, despite his claims to the contrary, he hates them. The teams used to have a pretty good rivalry going in the late eighties, they played a contentious NLCS in '87, and the following year a major brawl occurred when Ozzie Smith sucker punched Will Clark. A lot of this stuff was rekindled then again in 2002 when the Giants knocked off St Louis in the NLCS..

I wish he didn't even do Giants games because the contempt he feels for them is obvious in his voice. Plus, he's just not a good announcer..

11. Buck occasionally did Cardinal games with his dad on KMOX
When he was calling the game with Jack, Joe was actually pretty good.
