I haven't posted here in Sports before, but some of ya'll may know me from the Lounge.
Here's my dilemma - I have Donovan McNabb and Tom Brady as my Fantasy Football quarterbacks. I'm new to FF, relatively, just joined my league last year and placed 9th out of 10 teams, but this year I have made the playoffs, and I am utterly thrilled about it. But now comes this stuff about Shanahan benching McNabb in favor of Grossman (which is sort of a double blow, cause I live in suburban DC - Rockville MD - and really kind of like McNabb as a person).
Aaaanyway, I also picked up Grossman a couple days ago, on waivers, so I can start him also, in place of McNabb if necessary.
My dilemma is -- do I go with McNabb or Grossman to start? I'm not switching out Brady, and I really really want to do well in the playoffs in my league.
What do ya'll think?

1. LOL---all I can say is sorry you have McNabb and Grossman |
|
You could have Johnny U. starting for the Skins but no matter--- because the Skins have one of the worst O-Lines in football history.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Grossman gets injured in the first quarter and McNabb jumps back in.

2. Ahhh, you're killin me!! |

LOL!
I have a couple hours before I have to set my line-up. I have been up all night searching sites for "expert" opinions. No one knows what is going on.
I could brain Shanahan, easily! - and I am a gentle woman.

3. You know that McNabb is number THREE |
|
On the chart. If Grossman doesn't play, John Beck will. Shanhan basically said that McNabb has a snowballs chance in he'll of playing for him again... Asshole.:(

Yeah, it bites the big one about McNabb - I've always liked what I've heard about him here in the DC area - he's done some nice things and I appreciate that.
But - go with Grossman, ya think?
(And hate on Shanahan later).

I think the chances of McNabb playing even one more down as a Washington Redskin are slim to none.

I've switched out McNabb for Grossman.
The league I play in is just for fun and bragging rights, but since I've been such a football doofus, I've really tried to do my best after last year when I had such a miserable showing. Hey, I'm as competitive as anyone!! And to go from 9th to playoff status really amped my self-esteem, and I have definitely gained a new appreciation for the whole sport as well.

they said when they traded for D. McNabb that they were working from the assumption that Beck was the future QB of the organization and they wanted to buy him a few years to develop on the bench. (Unless your name is Manning, it seems to do well for a QB to adjust to the NFL before becoming a starter. Brady understudied Bledsoe. Cassel understudied Brady. Rivers understudied Brees. How many high 1sts have gone bust at QB over the same time? QBs out of college, for the most part, are not ready to be NFL QBs unless they're coming from a pro-set O.)
From a development standpoint, Back would do better to u/s the similar Grossman than the different skillset McNabb. Equally, McNabb really has not looked good in burgundy...he's probably done but perhaps the skins can sucker someone into giving them something for him.
Really, the Skins problems begin and end up front though. They need to fix that O-line and find an anchor lineman at any cost...and I do mean just about any cost including trading other blue-chip players to get an established one or vastly overpaying to make sure they walk-away with someone like Logan Mankins in free agency. Drafting isn't the solution because they haven't got 2-3 years to burn waiting for a young OL to gel and develop. They need a leader in the trenches upfront and they need it now. (Also they've been drafting OLmen for a decade pretty heavy and haven't developed a serviceable one yet.)

Ya know, I always liked McNabb, thought that he was a decent person.
I may be alone in this, but I think he's being treated like s&*t here.

I've always liked McNabb myself. The Redskins have lost me now...and I've been a fan for 25 years.

12. Well, Grossman is doing well for me |
|
so far. He was projected to get 8 points going into this game, and now, it's about over, and he's gotten me 32 points.
Thanks for the advice, all!!
